THIS GAME IS CR***P

That’s a cool blog. I do wish more dev blogs like that could happen these days

I think AoE4 development was hidden away for years after it was announced. Didn’t know or see much until mere months before launch, when it was about to go to beta (or tech stress or something)

Hey guys, I havent played in over a month. I only entered the AOMR Editor to make a few pictures. Is there an option to turn off the ZzZ above the villagers/peasants, is there an option to enable the footsteps that units leave, and has the corpse effect from the old version been added ?

When your villager is being gutted by a boar next to the town center, the town center can’t even attack the boar unless you manually give the command. Now tell me, do you think these options exist in the game? xD

“Is there an option to turn off the ZzZ above the villagers/peasants”

Yeah, by putting them to work lol, the villagers should never afk and always do something

I believe you could get rid of the ZzZ by going into Cinematic mode with the editor. It’ll take a bit more effort to learn how to use it, but will also end up giving you a lot more options and control in terms of angles, unit control, etc.

He wants to take screenshots of the villagers for his wallpapers, but without the ‘zZz’ getting in the way.

Oh,i understand everything now

I gave up because I was too lazy to create triggers to move them from place to place…

Have you tried the new photo mode?

If you ask me NO,i dont know that photo mode even exists -.-

It was released yesterday
I didnt try, but seeing from people using it in AOE#, it might not show the zzZzzzZzz

THank you,i just started AOM to test that mode
By the way, this game is not crap. I’ve played many stupid and ulgy games, but AOM Retold is a masterpiece that deserves some balance changes and AI improvements (capture the settlement in early game god damn)

The numbers don’t lie, losing 40% of the players in 4 months should say something to the team behind the game.

As we’ve already talked about, all new games lose a lot of players at the start, and that’s perfectly normal. What’s more, there’s been no new content added to the game, so a lot of players who knew the campaign have moved on.

First and foremost, Retold had to beat the previous version, Extended Edition, which it did because Retold achieved a higher peak than EE during its lifetime.

Second, AoM sadly always went under the radar compared to other RTS (Warcraft 3 took the spotlight in 2002) but also compared to the other Age games.

Edit: To give some figures

  • According to Wiki, AoM (released October 2002) sold combined with Titans around 1.3 million copies by August 2006 (Source)
  • Also according to Wiki, by 2007, AoE 3 (released October 2005) sold 2 million copies (Source)

That also explains why nowadays even AoE 3 with its DE ends up having higher figures than AoM. The game is doing fine, despite small numbers.

Even more so now, when other games have a direct line between developers and players, while the Retold team decides to do the opposite, isolating themselves and creating a game exclusively for themselves, not for the community. They release changes to things that weren’t even mentioned on the forums and ignore feedback from players about issues that are actually making the game unplayable. It’s not just me who stopped playing among my friends; the problem isn’t the lack of content for online players, the problem is their failure to fix basic bugs and blatantly obvious balance issues.

The Retold team is the 3DE team and 3DE players have been complaining about the same thing for years now.

3DE got a data patch in October after 8 months of nothing and guess what? they can’t put out a simple hotfix to fix the bugs that came along with it.

It’s not the devs fault btw, but WE- they call the shots.

@FiveWind6951746 The difference is that aoe3 is partly free to play, so few players are prepared to pay for the game, including DLC.

On the other hand, AOM is still paying, and it’s a safe bet that the large player base will be paying for the DLC that follows.

They’re going to allocate a lot more time and resources if the China DLC is a success.

Yeah, they better hope the Chinese DLC turns out well, or the axe will fall on Retold too…

Dude, let me show you some really new bad games, and how there player base looks.
