This japan card

So this card is wrong it improves attack, speed, health of unit %10 but also increase price %10.Problem is its not improving base health so when you upgrade your units that “%10” doesnt increase. If the price of a unit is going to increase their base stat should increase and upgrades must be calculated after that.
Also it can be made %20 bonus to health and attack to make it work from easy way.(%10 increase and when unit upgrades come it increase unit stats by %100 so it can be directly %20( %10+(%100 of %10) )).

Maybe a bug or something
You must report it!

Originally the card was +10% cost for +10% speed. That was it. The attack and HP were added later.

If I’m understanding correctly, the complaint is that the hp/attack buffs are off of based stats while a 10% cost increase basically acts as a debuff off of current stats.

Personally, I don’t really consider this an issue. Samurai are fine atm other than the mortar attack card. They’ve had buffs to their base stats over time, and so I’d argue that it’s just a better version of what it use to be; a cost increase for more speed. Speed is a big deal on melee units. If you want to use Samurai, it’s probably a good card.

yeah this is how all cards with cost changes work, if it was a net increase like aura, it would

a) be a nightmare to code for since ordering of the cards would matter
b) be overpowered overnight since a 10% net increase to stats of late game samurai is uh massive.

this would be the same for other cards like dynasty reforms and flint rockets

The hp and attack were moved from a samurai unit shipment age 4 that nobody knew about that added 5% hp/attack and could be sent twice (but did not roll over in Imperial like most unit shipments). The saint card is now excellent, the cost is a bit sad but speed is worth more than any other stat on a melee unit.
edit: apparently samurai are now cheaper. Also the saint penalty gets partially negated by shogunate wonder passive bonus.

10% stats for 10% cost would trade pop efficiency for cost efficiency which is not that bad and as mentioned the speed alone would be worth the cost increase since it help them to actually get into combat range. Cost increase has not really been as much of a problem as cheaper cost namely with Russia has been.

I think speed is useless because samurai will be sniped out from distance but im thinking as i play a treaty game maybe in normal games it worth it.

And why would that make spee useless?
Less time to catch the enemy = less time getting shot at
also by that logic there would be no reason to play melee units at all

Well its not high enough speed boost to make dramatic effect.

Nerf the canon attack card lol

This is a great card, the samurai are quite incredible with all their upgrades stacked, certainly 1 of the better melee infantry in the game.
