I’m trying to play this game and communicate with my teammates, though when i’m trying to communicate with my teammates, a simple thing like “but” is ###. How am i supposed to COMMUNICATE? Also, when playing with my friends, I would like to be able to communicate freely, not be filtered by some dumbass system.
Like come on, I get why this is a thing but most of the player base is at least sensible enough to be able to handle some swear words.
I would like to see a button in settings that says “Toggle chat filter” in the next patch. Thanks.

Agreed. The chat filter is dumb anyway. You can still swear in Spanish all you want. But normal English words, or normal words from other languages, get censored.

Not even that, the English chat filter has like a 50% chance of not censoring an actual swear word, while having more like a 75% chance of censoring random things.

I couldn’t say “I’ll make dock for just warships” it kept censoring the “make dock”. Happened in two different games.
This is kind of pathetic, why censor dock? This system has to go now.

The semi-explanation we got in the past was that the filter is a standard part of the Microsoft servers, and cannot be changed or disabled by the aoe2 development team.
It sure does seems a dumb and wildly inconsistent system for such a big global service, but that’s the explanation we got.
