It is great news to hear that there will be a celebration for Age of Empires: Definitive Edition and I appreciate the recent patch to address bugs in the game. However, the way this celebration is being carried out shows that the team has not thought this through well enough.

Ever since the beta for Age of Empires: Definitive Edition started in June 2017 the community has asked for the cheat units in Age of Empires to be remastered in the definitive edition. Now that development time has been provided to remaster these cheat units, they have been made for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition instead of Age of Empires: Definitive Edition. Why is Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition being used to celebrate Age of Empires: Definitive Edition? Are we to expect that other Age games will be promoted in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition? This decision is in poor taste. It would have been a much better decision to take the development time to remaster the cheat units and put them in Age of Empires: Definitive Edition as the community has been asking for years.

The other issue with the planned celebration is it requires fans of Age of Empires: Definitive Edition to also have purchased Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition in order to celebrate Age of Empires: Definitive Edition. Everyone who purchased Age of Empires: Definitive Edition should be able to celebrate the anniversary of the game, not just those who also purchased Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.

I hope the community team will reconsider the execution of the anniversary celebration.
