We still do not know whether the trend is broken by this DLC already, how many campaigns it has. So let us wait before drawing any conclusions.
Hippos! And pythons too!
Pheasants and foxes and hunting dogs (hounds and mastiffs)!
Hippos already added in OP.
Thanks for the other suggestions. Python reminds me, Anaconda and Cobra will also be good additions.
I would love a golden eagle with it’s eagle hunter.
Some medieval mythological creature like dragons would certainly add some flavor to the editor.
Finding Grootslang could be the campaign story for a Southern Bantu Civ. Just kidding.
Yes ! Perfect for the new huntable animal that doesn’t flee.
Chickens are also Tropical originally by the way. They evolved from Red Jungle Fowls of Southeast Asia. Indus Valley Civilisation was first to domesticated chicken.
Seems like Tropical Animals are all lazy by built. LoL. Even the iconic Dodo and Koala.
Tropical climates are more forgiving than temperate climates, you don’t have to worry about food being very scarce during winter. So being lazy is less costly
Why did you remove Mahasona from your profile picture?
Showing my support for the update.will change it back later
Tropical tribes need a dlc, but they should be merged into several bigger civs rather than appear as tribes.
This is a good graphic from Reddit.
America is still underrepresented relative to its size.
More civs from this part of the world would be a good choice, especially from the eastern part of South America. Argentina, Brazil, Chile are not covered at all, and Venezuela in the north is also missing.
The western for North America part looks completely empty. To fill in this gap, I am thinking to civs, which have the Pueblo culture.
A North American DLC with Mississippians, Iroquois and one or two Pueblo tribes would fit well, especially from a economic building construction point of view.
This is a nice graphic from ad 1453, which can give the game a bit more of an American feel.
Some agricultural tribes can be well integrated to the game, as a good side kick to the established advanced civilizations in Central America.
So far, the developers have only included advanced civilizations to the game, such as the Aztecs, Mayans and Incas. However, some agricultural civs were also quite capable of warfare and have an acceptable level for an introduction.
Main issue with adding north amarican people is making a campaign and finding leader names.uu and wonder is not a huge problem.
Here is another graphic concerning South America for the same time period. The Chimu and Inca kingdoms are of course featured.
Below are the Spanish and Portuguese spheres of influence from the colonial period onwards.
A good map, but mine is too, simply in terms of technological progress.
Honestly, as much as I want some North American representation, i’m not sure anything other than Mississippians is really feasible. Iroquois came to prominence outside the AoE2 timeframe, and the Puebloans, while an impressive society in their own right, really were still just disjointed small tribes. Sure they were sedentary and had architecture, but they still weren’t really building cities or nations, it was still just tribes.
Honestly even though I’m supportive of the Mississippians civ, if they hadn’t established Cahokia even they would be a big stretch for me.
It is still age of “empires”, at least the Mississippians were working in that direction, no one else in the AoE2 timeframe in North America was really even working in that direction.
I’m dubious, but I am curious of your specific ideas if you have something particular cooked up
