Maybe, but numbers do not lie.
To help Ports, all tthat needs to be done is expand the Gold discount, to 20-25%.
Similar to Koreans, but instead of increasing the discount, let it apply to Siege, and you will see Koreans winrate go up a lot.

He’s analyzing for all elo not just the best
I remembered about the Janissary being first planned to be a composite bowman and had an idea: Turks had good archery, both on foot and on horse, but in game they are stuck with normal xbows in the foot archer department. I guess they lack arbs because this + free chemistry looked super strong to AoK devs. But said devs didn’t have 20 years of Turk mehness to witness. So question is: wouldn’t adding arbs give Turks another powerspike fitting the “gold civ” theme?
I think i have a great idea to buff turks and support their fast imp potential:
Sometimes I wonder if even the top elo winrates are that solid to go off - especially if some of the top players playing ladder games are streaming and pick civs and meme strats for fun. Might skew what you can learn from win rates a bit.
Why is that a great idea? It’s the Malay bonus.
Trained super fast could work, New Turk civ bonus could be : Skirmishers and Spearmen are trained INSTANTLY (from castle age)!! OR 2x Faster from Feudal Age!!
It would not only make them super unique and fun to watch, but also allow them shock strategies in Feudal/Early Castle if the player wants. Also, panic defense potential, unique only to the Turks!
MUCH better than giving them Elite Skirm or Pikemen and making them yet another generic civ.
It would also make historical sense (Turks bought warriors cheap from the east)
Like this sounds a bit OP in feudal. But if you make them (even skirms only) to train 60-80% faster (as originally cumans scout line after the UT) from castle age, well… Turks would be the only civ using super fast skirms spam to counter crossbowman in early castle, and would have a unique approach to the trash war. Still the trash bad, because of just spearman and skirms… but at least different and allowing Turks to be played
Yes INSTANT skirmishers and Spearmen from Castle age (OR 2x faster from Feudal age) ! that would be the best way to fix TURKS once and for all!
This is the missing piece in the puzzle, I mean it also makes so much thematic sense
Turks do not need buffs for Castle Age, only for late Imperial.
They have some of the strongest Castle Age pushes in the game.
Yes, so this buffs their late imperial, while also not giving them stronger trash! It is perfect, as it also buffs them a bit in Feudal where they’re lacking (if 2x faster from feudal)
Add to that Siege Engineers, now tell me how are they not buffed specifically in Late Imp
Just give them pikes and elite skirms.
Change artillery to 500 food and gold and have it give 20% bonus damage to BBC vs building on top of current effects
I would rather give their Spears and Skirms more HP, than turn them into insta-train, as that will make them into a very ineficient resource drain down the line.
They already train quick enough as it is with Conscription.
You cannot have SE and Artillery.
This method is not nearly as interesting as the one I and Sylux mentioned. It makes the Turks into just another old mundane and boring civ, At least let the Turks retain their identity of weak Trash(missing those upgrades)
And doing this while also making new unique strategies come to life is the really good way of fixing a civ.
they don’t get both. They get +2 range bbc that have 20% extra dmg vs building. Trebuchet and rest of siege stay as is
But it requires adding yet another new bonus.
Instanter lancers in castle age would be bad for enemy rams.
I prefer instead the HP bonus. Maybe not as passive buff, but as part of sipahi .
You cannot have SE and Artillery.
I don’t really worry that much about SE here, as it comes in very late anyway. What I am excitied about is the invitable change to Turk Trash. That is the bigger one to me.
And I can definetly say, 2x faster production (OR instant trash from castle age) is the most interesting way.
Not sure if more hp would be better for balancing. But for me, super spammable skirms would be very fun. A skirm with more hp is too close to a worse version of a bad e skirm. Spammable is a different mechanics…

EXACTLY, making use of different mechanics, gives rise to new vibrant strategies and uniqueness and identity of the civilization! I am convinced 2x faster production solves Turk issues both in Feudal and in Late imperial, while also strengthening their identity and theme.
