Turtle Ships, Genoese Crossbows, and Missionaries have perhaps received the most buffs since their release. Meanwhile, the Turks got hit after hit. Janissary nerf, market nerf, Siege Engineer nerfs, increased Artillery cost and they are now overall outclassed by the other gunpowder civs. Even Portuguese Hand Cannoneers can trade gold-effectively against Elite Janissaries.
Sad to see the most fun civ to play, for me, in such a neglected state. They didn’t even bother to fix the Janissary’s attack dispersion from 0.75 to 0.5, or their stealthily reduced accuracy.
Until a proper mod with these fixes becomes popular, I’ll go with the Spanish or Portuguese instead. Better bombard cannons, better cannon galleons, better overall gunpowder, eco bonuses, wider tech tree, Feitorias and their unique units don’t die as easily to skirms and archers like Janissaries do. They’re also stronger on both water maps and Arabia.
The Ottomans were one of the major naval powers, yet the Turks have no water bonus at all. Both Spanish and Portuguese Cannon Galleons are much stronger.

Nobody would call for a nerf just because you’re top-tier on water maps, it will be seen as normal. And being bad on non-water maps won’t be accepted either; people will still push to make them strong on all maps.
Like Italians or Portuguese. These civs are much stronger than Turks on water maps, Arabia, and most other maps. Yet it’s the Turks who keep getting nerfs (while Italians get non-stop buffs) just because Turks are slightly better than those civs on a single map. And Italians even have the advantage of two unique units that hard-counter the few strong units the Turks still have.
While Artillery BBCs are good, I’d still prefer the Portuguese ones. They have one less range, but they’re cheaper, have ballistics, faster projectiles, and are more deadly to buildings. They might be even better than the Houfnice or Ethiopian BBCs.

Civ bad matchup isnt new and doesnt concern only turks.
outside nerfs towarded arena, turks got very few change. Stop saying in a way like they get nerfs every patchs. As for italian the civ only started to shine now. Before that their buff were justified since GC and condo were so-so before DE.
