Unable to join multiplayer games, stuck on loading screen (no tick appears next to name)

When i start a ranked match or online custom game, i can find a game but when the game goes to the loading screen every other player but me gets a tick next to their name and then i just get stuck there, with the only option to force quit the game.

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

1. Start any ranked or online custom game
2. Join game/get matched with opponent
3. Pick map/civs
4. Get to the pre-match loading screen

EXPECTED RESULT

The game should start when every player has loaded (get the tick)

Check your mods, some of the mods are preventing the game from loading, for me it was Improved Tech Tree UI mod.

Can you try as @BusiedSheep1767 mention? Disable your mods and try again. Some players are having issues with UI mods when joining lobbies as these mods need to be updated.
