Unable to sign into Xbox Network via Geforce Now Steam session

Issue:

When signing into the Xbox network through the Steam version of the game on Geforce Now, the following error occurs (see screenshot for full error): Microsoft Edge can’t read and write to its data directory.

Trigger Event:

Clicking on the “Sign into Xbox Network”

Repro Steps:

  1. Launch the Steam version via Geforce Now cloud streaming
  2. Click the Sign into Xbox Network button
  3. Observe the web browser popup failing with an error.
