Unique portraits for units that should have them

I will put here concepts, yes, made/modified by AI. I’m not an artist, and I believe on a fair use for people that doesn’t have the means to do some things. At the end will try to do a mod if I have time. Hopefully devs can put some resources and do it with paid people, at least with Meji and Revolutionaries.

Pls, this is not mindless AI slop text. I’m crossing the image portrait with in-game references and fixing what AI gets wrong.

I’m not quite sure why’d you AI generate only a handful if you know they are not usable ingame.

Like surely the list would have been enough (Although I’d be surprised if they don’t have a list of that internally, but then again who knows what’s going on there.)

The Meiji Uhlan doesn’t even resemble any historical unit, that one’s just outright slop.

Please stop using AI

Speaking of which, is there any better naming option for Meiji units than “Meiji [European Unit]”?

Yeah a lot.

There’s at least two teams of modders I know of working on fixing that.

Sorry to ask, but is there any rule or privacy notice here on the forum that prohibits the use of AI?

I ask because I’ve noticed that some forum users discuss AI quite a lot; if such a prohibition exists, we need to know if there is any policy or privacy notice addressing the use of AI—whether for posts or comments.

There’s no rule against it, but the fact it’s allowed is really unpopular with a lot of people. Generative AI can’t exist without plagiarism, for one.

I understand. Well, let’s hope AI improves in the future so that the final result is more original and doesn’t rely on remnants of other images uploaded to the internet. In any case, this tool is bound to become part of our daily lives in the not-too-distant future.

Let’s hope that AI crashes and burns so we can afford RAM in the future. So that the final result is that artists will not be oppressed and not have their images stolen from the internet. In any case AI is bound to destroy our lives in the not-too-distant future.

Indeed, but in practice and in the real world, this tool will sadly prevail, as it makes things much easier for the entertainment industry and allows the work of five people to be handled by just one. Unfortunately, that is the current landscape. Let’s hope all this changes at some point, because if things continue as they are, who knows where we’ll end up.

Obviously yes, but what do you expect from the devs that named 11 different units “Royal ____”?

Calling everything from the Warsaw revolt “Vistula ____” is just as bad. Sure, the Vistula Legion was a thing, but that’s an okay basis for one or two units, not four.

No, IDK. They can’t be used through a mod for replacing the units icons? Or would just mess up all the revolutionaries icons, for example?

BTW, not interested on the AI debate for this use in particular.

And yes, Meiji units are very problematic, specially the Uhlan and the Grenadier (I guess that they had to replace the Samurai with something close to their siege role).

They can be used in a mod to replace the unit icons.

But if that’s the case there’s people hand drawing portraits for actual Meiji units…

Which again begs the question of why’d you use AI slop instead.

I didnt understood that for your post. Then I would do it for other units and (revolutionaries) just as placeholders.

If someone does them at hand I would delete it OFC.
