You are right, the name “Maceman” is very general.

Camaquin is a good name, the name “Alaec” which means “Lord of the Valley” could also be used, which was a title equivalent to European feudal lords.

All these ideas are respectable and interesting, I’m liking this brainstorming :smiley:

By the way, what do you think of the Moche-Chimú ships?

still I will follow with balance based on all feedback.

One thing I can see is that this civ would be reliant on the UU to do a lot of heavy lifting but they can still have a strong Castle Age because Crossbows with a few Bolas thrown in counter most of each other’s weaknesses (except focused/bonuses archer civs) or rather the Bolas is good vs most of the Archer struggles namely with bonuses to siege and cavalry but their projectile is fairly dodgable due to slow speed.

I think removing Crossbow would be too cruel however. But somehow I find there to be an issue where this civ reaches a point where it might get too good.

Planning to rework I can see why most Mesos focus on anti infantry units but I do think this one being the one weakest to them is a big niche that can be capitalized on. Fadter/cheaper repairs is not going anywhere and being the civ that skirts around access to Hand Cart is still tricky to make seem like its not too strong. Since we are a very supportive community I capl upon the community to support and make the best damn Chimu so balanced it could be slapped into the game as designed with acclaim from all players.

And Im still averse to Arbalest. Arb/Bolas seems almost too good a lategame combo.

Well looks like this expansion has taken my glory.

Barracks techs cost no gold

This one could still work even in the face of dravidian half price. The gold you save will be great for late game Eagle and Champion play and this civ would hsve the Gambesons that Incas long lost.

The Carry bonus remains. Strong as it seems remember there ONLY wheelbarrow.

As could double HP houses for house walling.

And onr more bonus now:

Eagles +2 LoS. No longer a team bonus I shudder to think how much map you can get with an Armenian teammate and further…

we need a new Team Bonus… okay!

team bonus: Repairmen work 25% faster

Im scared to see the push power with a Georgian teammate

All in all theae bonuses together might be too much so lets see what the loving community thinks

So I figure with Armenians boosting ALL infantry instead of… I dunno maybe specific infantry the way all the mounted unit LoS bonuses are separated by scout/knight/cav archer etc… I figure this civ needs a from the top!

Chimu (845-1470) An Infantry and Defensive Civ

  • Dropsites and Houses 2x HP

I still think this bonus has value. House walling is grand and valuable!

  • Villagers carry 20% more resouces and move 3% faster per age (cumulative)
    This feels like an unremovable part and heart of the civ. The added work rate which means you never get Hand Cart is baked into this design! It is a civ without Handcart and that won’t change! The numbers might based on making them useful but the idea is set in stone. S[peaking of a different resource…

Yup, and now Arson is… still missing. Thats still a whopping potential saving of 2120 gold… assuming you actually research every last one of these dang units!

Team Bonus: Eagles, Swordsmen, Skirmsher train 10% (15 Feudal and 25% beyond) faster.

Training these units 25% faster in Feudal sounds like a no go for me. That is Drush power your Aztec or Bulgarian ally doesn’t deserve! Nor do you, quite frankly!

Alas a moment of silence for the lost Repair workrate bonus, I hence will find it a new home. Somewhere.

  • Blacksmith: Cavalry Armor, Blast Furnace
  • Economy: Hand Cart, Two Man Saw
  • University: BBT, Heated Shot
  • Monastery: Illumination, Atonement, Heresy, Sanctity
  • Castle: /

This tech tree still remains unchanged.

Likewise I feel the Bolasi is in a fantastic place functionally.

The unit that needs the makeover, is the Camaquen. Auras are popular with the fellow kids these days! And a man believed to have the spirits of the gods within him sure can abuse this!

Let’s do that! In trade it is no longer the unit that boosts the power of not having armor types so feel free to use Guns and Jaguars against them!

Camaquen now has this: Melee units do +3 (6) damage within 12 (14) range of these units. Bolas and Ranged units get half the damage bonus rounding down (or up if that’s not too strong.)

Well… it’s no Garland Wars but it can still knock you all down. The problem is the UU is very convertible since Heresy doesnt exist here.

I think Braided Leather UT doesn’t need much change but the Gourd Telephone? +6 damage and 10% M/ASpeed tis a big yikes from me! What should it become… heck if I know!
