Usac’s Civ Crafting Brainstorms Part 9 - Kongolese

Somehow I posted all this and it was flagged as offensive and needed to be removed… can anyone explain why this is offensive? Im willing to edit this post to correct as I update my opd design. This is my thread and if the issue is bigger O will remake it if that avoids being silenced

Anyway… this one is long overdue for overhaul.

Aspects I like. The free spawned villager at the most recently completed town center. Whether 300g is the right amount or not I dont know but its an aspect I like. If it must be 300 then it might need to include relic trickle but definitely not trade.

I alsk do love the faster scout as it is their early eco bonus since you might not be pitched in Feudal pr Dark Age mining operations. If the hp reduction needs to remain that is to be seen.

Im not sure the team bonus doesnt overdo the gold shtick.

The UU definitely needs to go. With 2/3 pikeman pop slot usage it’s fine if they’re not these amazing horse killers.

1armor per age probably isnt enough. 1/3/5 armor is probably more fair. Cavalry will cut you down fast and the added HP of the Vietnamese goes way harder and more valuable.

I still think the design and synergy is strong here. You get gold for your eagle reskin and it snowballs your economy as you continue to mine.

It’s not that it’s offensive, it’s that you’re necroing one of your own threads after a year. Just make a new one if you want to make a new civ concept (or in this case, redoing a civ concept you already did).

Yet others do just that. I remember a Venetian civilization that necroed itself every so often and it was never deemed as rule breaking.

There are still aspects I cant figure out in a numerical vacuum. If the gold generation spawns villager bonus included relics and trade it would be absurdist beyond absurd but I know in this civ theres a good idea swimming around that just isnt connecting into a flow.

Ehhh…I get where you’re going with the background, but free vils like this would be massively OP I think.

Maybe being a bit picky here, but i’m pretty sure the area that the Kongo resided in was largely jungle, not savannah. I’d also say find a little something else to differentiate them from Eagles, maybe swap out a bonus damage category or two, not much but “reskinned eagle but faster” is a bit too easy IMO

This poison thing makes me nervous ngl, how exactly does it work? If it does more damage after an initial hit like an HP drain i’m not sure that really feels AoE.

So if this replaces Pike & Halb, does that mean that the Kongo are capped out at Spearmen? Might be kinda hard tbh.

Overall I like the general Kongo idea, but some detail tweaks would feel very necessary IMO

It means they get the Assegi but not the ELITE upgrade which Id rather not do for a civ that gets a pop doscount for the unit.

Most of this is to be somewhat reworked.

Although the free villagers Im not sure. Remind me how much gold one is to get over the course of the game. And ergo how fast one normally will gather 300g. Worse yet the villagers might spawn at a TC you don’t want them at meaning wasted walk time.

Admittedly Im still unsure of the number and this isnt easy to test especially since Im not sure the engine can currently do this or distinguish if the gold is specifically mined or not.

The poison I agree is problematic in current status.

This civ I like where its endgame goes. I am most concerned about funding the precise number for how much gold gathered to spawn a free villager is just the right number. I wont try and bring light back to all of these yet but soon enough. The Usac will rise again!
