Vanilla Forums Help

Anyone intimately familiar with the ins and outs of Vanilla forums? I would really like to know how to quote a user and link at the same time without having to take a screenshot of the quote and pasting the URL of the comment.

Sharing a comment from one thread and pasting it into another doesn’t seem to be integrated in the Vanilla forums like it was with the IPS forums.

The default Vanilla installation comes without the quotes functionality, you need a plugin for that. Which is not presented here. Lol, this is so stupid…

Thanks for the reply. This is what I was able to find about the forums as well.

Well, since I’ve written my reply the plugin was apparantly installed

@batollo How do I use the quote plugin?

I want to be able to quote a comment from one thread and paste it into another thread so that it links to the quoted comment.

Not sure how it works here…don’t seem to be able to travel…BUT the way I do it…is I quote all and then I copy and past that quote…I will show you what I mean…we had to do it at times in the other forum.

There are multiple threads already out there you can post in that are the same SUBJECT. You want to talk about the days of old and meet some old friends, name the age you first played, talk about that first AOE experience as a child? Want to discuss the changes you would like to see in this new AOE DE version? Please post in the topics that are already created or advise us on topic headers you would like to see,

Thank you
Wulf

@rhrmn Does this help you?..I know it is not perfect…but it works

You can quote several in “leave a comment”…select all & copy - travel to where you want…and paste…navigation in here sucks…I keep loosing where I was or am suppose to be grrrrrr

dang…mine didn’t link…sorry

No problem. Previous Age forums had a comment I.D. that was included when you quoted, so that linked back to the original post. When I quote on these Vanilla forums it does not include the comment I.D. of the quoted comment.

https://forums.ageofempires.com/discussion/comment/2412/#Comment_2412

In this case your previous comment had comment I.D. 2412. The code for quoting with a comment I.D. was something like…

The page icon on the output linked to the original post.

If these forums supported BBcode, I could use the code above to link quote.

Optionally what I could do is create a link to the word “said” to the original post.

Now the word “said” links back to your original post and the hover text is “original post”. It’s not as straightforward as BBcode, but it works.

Yeah, so all of that is figured out now
