I have an issue with the game causing my video card’s driver to completely crash, forcing Windows to use a generic driver instead. This only happens occasionally and at random times. I have reported it once to AMD using their report tool, but I have not received any driver updates as of yet. This only happens with AOE 4.
My system:
- Windows 10
- AMD Ryzen 9 3900X - 12 core
- 32 GB RAM
- AMD Radeon RX 5700XT 8GB VRAM
- 1080p monitor with 144Hz refresh rate
I run the game using all the recommended settings with the following exceptions:
- Texture quality is set to “Medium”
- Vertical sync disabled
- FPS capped at 60
- Movies at 1080p
