Villagers are not being reassigned to the same resources after garrison and back to work or bell ring.

When having multiple resources under the tc, like hunt, wood and sheep, when you garrison vills and click them back to work, they return on total different assignments, wich include being idle, resource switch and even killing untouched sheep.

This also applies to bell ring with the the extra bug that when the bell is unringed the vills that were in the way to reach its garrison don’t return to work and instead continue its path for being garrisoned, having to be ungarrisoned later separately.

This are all new bugs of last update #81058

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Have villagers collecting multiple resources under your town center, including hunt, wood and sheep
  2. Garrison them, either by select and garrison or bell ring
  3. Ungarrison them, either by back to work or bell unring
  4. Check that they are now a complete mess.

  1. The villagers should be reassined to the same resource they were before.
  2. The villagers walking towards its garrisson, when the bell is unringed, should return back to work also.

I met this too, I think it is 100% reproducible.

I’m having the same problem, it’s unbearable having to keep rearranging the villagers when I used the back-to-work key. How can something that was working properly get ruined

I also have the same problem and I hope this gets addressed very quickly. This has also killed my villager luring boars method, where I used to task a villager to get boar, then garrison the villager in TC and ungarrison through Send Back to Work to get the villager much closer to the boar.

It feels as if the Xbox players’ auto-tasking has bled over to the PC. I am playing while logged into Xbox (for event mods etc), if that’s any help.

I guess a silver lining is that if for any reason you have a bunch of idle villagers under TC right now, you can garrison them in and send them back to work, which auto-tasks them to random resources. Of course, the randomness is really annoying and has made resource dropping (from deer + boar hunt for example) completely impossible.

Also experiencing this. the vils are eating a boar, the enemy scout approaches the TC so i garrison them to shoot it, i then press “go back to work” and half of them go to eat sheep.

This bug persists on Hotfix 82587.

According to the release notes the following was adressed, but i think they are fixing collateral issues and not the proper bugs:

"* Villagers no longer continue walking to Town Centers and garrison when the town bell has been activated again.

  • New sheep no longer get unintentionally killed by Villagers when ungarrisoning from the Town Center."
