Issue:

Villagers Do not correctly try to start gathering the closest relevant resource after building a drop point.
Example: Building a storehouse on the gold and 2 villagers go to the far Woodline

Note: This was reported as fixed in the May patch, and it was indeed fixed in game. This bug seems to have re-entered the game somehow. Relevant Patchnotes: Age of Mythology: Retold Update 18.27100 - Age of Empires - World's Edge Studio

Trigger Event:

Build a storehouse with greek villagers next to a gold mine with trees relatively close (but not closer than the goldmine) Also applies to other civs with multiple res dropoff points like Norse & China.

Repro Steps:

  1. Build a storehouse with Greek villagers next to a gold mine with trees relatively close
  2. Villagers will go to trees further away than the gold mine.

(Also relevant villagers will go to trees further away from the storehouse so even if they stay on trees they could go to less efficient trees)
In the attached example screenshot I built a storehouse next to gold and 2 villagers inexplicably go to the far Woodline

Yeah, I second this. Recently had a game where I built a storehose on the woodline with the intent on gathering wood, all of the vills did gather wood, but like half went to gather wood from a straggler tree ways away from the storehouse, really a considerable distance away…

Attaching a replay as an example. In the attached I build a gold mine adjacent to a mine ~1 villager width away. One villager goes to a wood line which is 3-4 villager width’s away. Other villagers to go a stragler tree much further away than the woodline even. This encapsulates both the issue with villagers going to the wrong resource and with villagers going to suboptimal trees.

for contrast in the May patch which I referenced above, villagers prioritzied resources explicityly in relationship to the distance from the storehouse so they would all go to the gold in the attached replay in the prior game version (At least that was my experience when I tried testing it on the release). I think this provides the most consistent result based on where you place your building

right now if i build a warehouse next to the mine and i chop a tree the chopper drop the sources in the warehouse instead of the town center which is pretty closer to the tree
