Villagers shooting chicken with arrows

Such an overkill

I like how the devs have put alot of attention to details in the last patch

Hopefully we can get a new animation for this

I also hope the unpushable hunt can have faster gather rate to offset the wood investment

what do you want them to do?
walk up and melee them? Seems like a random change that affects gameplay for not much reason

yes

It will make the game more accurate .. unless back in the day people used to shoot chicken with arrows which would be very surprising

Yes !

Or maybe have them use a hand cannon, what could go wrong if you shoot a chicken with a 1-inch caliber gun ?

Don’t mind me, I’ll go hunt a couple rabbits for lunch

More seriously the shepherd animation would be fine for chicken.

Seems like shepherd animation would be strange, especially if they bring the shepherd hook out? I’m not sure the best approach, though

When you look at the list, it feels the least brutal compared to a bow, stabbing with a pointed falchion (regular attack), an more creatively striking with an axe, pickaxe, hammer or hoe.

After all villagers already slaughter sheeps while barely moving their shepherd staff.

Maybe using the reseeding animation, as if feeding the chicken ?

Oh yeah, that could be good

Yea I have to admit its really goofy and looks soooo overkill. I imagine the chicken exploding from the impact of the arrow lol. I literally laughed when I first saw it the first game I played post-chicken-patch.

Why can’t villagers use bows to defend themselves against enemy units? They are wasting arrows on chickens.

I used to think this too, other than it being a little OP and making early raiding impossible I think it kinda makes sense as villagers would probably only have flimsy hunting bows that probably wouldn’t do much to an armored opponent.

They are wild chickens, you need to catch them first. :stuck_out_tongue:

Indeed hunting bows (for deer, boar…) are 50-80 lbs draw weight while war bows start at 80 lbs (and go up to 200). For a chicken, an entry level child’s bow (under 50 lbs) will do.

To compare, a 20th century archer hunter, who used a longbow (of a power fit for a medieval war), managed to kill an elephant with it.
