Vote:Friends, what rev do you want to see in mod?

The devs will not do anything for this game, and I think mod is a good way to add something.Revs is a good way to add many thing fresh to the players.(Don’t expect the civs will come by the DLCS,such as Poland and Persia, etc.Just because they will not give us the DLC,lol.

Mod is the only way!

I think our vote will give some interesting ideas to our modders, they may give those revs in their mod.

Why do you want to make Revolutions instead of just fully playable civs?

Canada is already an option currently in the game?

Tatar revolt for russia and china (India possibly too to represent muggal heritage) to add some nomadic mechanics

I applaud anyone creating factions mods whether singular or large ‘expansion’ style pack, more so in this time - especially if they vere towards a more exotic, but historically solid civ (a million points to a Shona, Malagasy, Tlingit, Polynesian etc civs).

Personally I’m doing my research into the technical side of modding as I want to create a new faction civ - a solid, non-fantasy pirate civ - Sea Rovers.

I have always wanted to do a proper ‘Caribbean Pirates’ civ, using proper historical sources, covering the golden age of buccaneering (i.e ex-military cohesive guerilla armies) and golden age of piracy and leave out fantasy / tropey ‘pirate’ units in favour of the more interesting historical sort (for example real buccaneers wouldn’t be seen dead without flintlock muskets and only used cutlasses where absolutely neccessary - they were much better personally armed than professional armies). I’ve got my Google sheet with all my civ specs (an alignment/governor system! Pirate revolution to the Red Sea pirates! A age-up system mechnically similar to Fed States but is based on Safe Harbours! etc!) and I can create 3d models & textures. I just need to throughly learn the actual modding part!

Anyway, I hope mods (as in moderators) don’t shoot down modding stuff on the Discussion board - if this is our only lifeline now for ‘new content’ we should have more spotlights on current mods.

Thank you for shouting out historically solid civs!

I had to hunt down a stupid french book from the 60s to get the full list of Malagasy units.

There are countries or peoples in the list that would make more sense to be full civilizations (Persians, Danes, Poles, Mapuche, etc.), so a vote of this kind should focus on which revolutions could be the most viable to represent in a mod, considering reasonable historical criteria. For example, the Serbian revolution against the Ottomans (1804-1835) was a long and difficult process, but it was successful in turning Serbia into an independent country, which would qualify it to be included as a revolution, but it seems that many people do not know about this revolution. Something similar happens with the Greek Revolution (1821-1829) and the Belgian Revolution (1830-1831). I mention this to request that these votes not become simple popularity polls, but should be taken into account when a revolution makes historical sense. A vote regarding full civilizations should be in another topic.

Why not do your own game? As, if not less (I guess), difficult than modding. It would be great!

It is by no means less difficult than making a mod lfmao. The engine alone is gonna make you miserable.

I ain’t doing that (it’s way beyond me!), as great as that could be. Modding is the only way I can attempt it and even then, balancing that with family, job and sanity will be tough

Dear friends,I think opdepov’s way is a good and feasible way, just because it can use factors already in the game,it will not take many time, but will bring lot of revs.Such as prince elector revolutions,it just use the factors already in the game, but bring us 5 new revs.

So I think it can do like this, for example, rev Tatar can have the factors of Chinese, such as keshik and hand mortar, rev Oman will let all the battle ships bring coin.etc.

Counterpoint:

Nothing stops you from making new civs

I’d love to see Ireland and Scotland as revolutions or full civilizations.

In my opinion Paraguay would make more sense as a full civilization, in any case Uruguay could be a “revolution” of a potential Argentine civilization, although in general modders don’t tend to make revolutions for their civilizations, so I see it unlikely to happen.

Nah, I’m making Uruguay as a revolution. Don’t you worry
