[VOTE] Which civ do you vote for to be the next?

Almost nothing is known about them, except for their age and where they lived. Aztecs, Mayans, and even Zapotecs would be better options.

Love to have Aztec or Maya next after Immortal Pillars dlc because in them there is revered snake God like Quetzalcoatl in Aztec or Kukulkan in Maya which also fit this year Chinese Zodiac theme … Wood Snake (hope to see at least announcement trailer or teaser of them in the middle or toward the end of this year… just like Immortal Pillars last year)

Also love to have Celts

Now we know what the next DLC will be with all these votes, but it’s quite clear that the community wants the Aztecs as a priority. They’d surely be wrong not to go for Aztecs, as that’s what’s going to make them the most money and guarantee success, I imagine.

Unless they strategically decide to make them for the 3rd DLC, because a lot of people have already paid the premium, so they’ve already been profitable, they can probably afford to put any of the civilisations for the DLC coming this year AND guarantee success with the Aztecs for the eventual 3rd DLC.

A lot of people who would have paid the premium price would be reaching for their wallets to buy the 3rd DLC.

Yeah… That is right because people already have glimpse of what Aztec civils are, what are their major Gods, their God Powers, myth units and so on in Return of the Gods mod and have their hope for Aztec dlc up…
So I don’t see why not the devs not consider to make it next dlc, just as you said… profitable to them

What kind of narrative can be used in a potential Aztec Campaign? I don’t think “Return of the Gods” had a new campaign.

  1. Japanese: More Asian civilisations are always welcome. Gaming and weebs go hand in hand, so expect huge playerspike if Japanese are ever added.
  2. Hindus: Asian civ and worlds populated country. Hindus also have interesting architecture, snakes and elephants.
  3. Aztecs: They won’t be as hype as the 2 above, but they are interesting choice. Maybe they could play like a nomadic civ without walls. Or maybe they could have a choice to build Temples instead of Town Centers at settlements providing them part refunds for dying units nearby in addition to ability to train discounted units from it.

We kinda need another Norselike civ that can be hyperaggro with forward bases and has lackluster defenses.

It would be cool if they would tie in the Atlanteans into the Aztec campaign. Thanks to their architecture style they wouldn’t even look out of place in the Americas.

Good question and no when i played these mods there was no narrative storyline.

I personally think it’s 100% certain they will try to make something around a 9 mission campaign.
I personally think it could be interesting to follow a female hero this time. I mean we now have three male protags. Could be interesting IMHO.
Therefore I could see a priestess chosen by Quetzalcoatl/Kukulkan as an interesting start. Since we had established heroes as warriors and a peasant as a warrior now. Other ideas?

I do agree, but I think they will not have courage to add an upgrade called ‘Human Sacrifice’ to temporarily increase the strength of the troops and improve harvesting, and that would be very sad. 1111

Nobody will expect the antagonists…

I would like them to create another imaginary pantheon of only humanoid beasts, something similar to Warcraft 3. maybe the pantheon of the undead

I’m pretty sure people would riot if they did that.
There are so many real mythologies out there that could be added to the game instead of an imaginary one.
This would be the worst possible decision they could do. I think less people would be angry if the added the USA or something like that.

Maybe they can make an Age of Fantasy in the future as a standalone game.

@Skadidesu I quite agree, we shouldn’t include purely fantasy civilisations that aren’t based on any myth. There’s so much mythology left to include in the game that it would be nonsense to create a fantasy one.

Although the Atlanteans are almost the exception to the rule, because yes it’s a “fantasy” and “mythological” civilisation at the same time, it never existed for real but it does have the merit of being based on a myth.

Ultimately, if in my wildest dreams they manage to make all the civilisations in the game and there are no more ideas, then why not start including others like one centred on the myth of Cthulu or another based on the Lemurians, for example.

If the Atlanteans wouldn’t have been added back then and they would be added now I would be mad and many others would be mad.
Many people back then were also mad.

I think main driving force behind adding Atlanteans was the fact that Arkantos is one. I fail to see any other fantasy civilization they could justify adding over non-fantasy ones.

Chinese are so beautiful that I fail to see how anyone wants to see another Atlantean with their Dryad, Argus and Centimanus models again. Those things look so bad.

Maybe a fantasy civilization inspired by the Lord of the Rings movie with elves, wizards, dragons, could be interesting.

@BornWinter52864 They don’t have the legal rights to do that. What’s more, an RTS based on LOTR already exists and you’ve got Warcraft 3 too. If you want to play orcs and undead I suggest you go back to those games.

Yes, there was a lot of disappointment about it at the time The Titans was announced and came out. And IIRC, even some former Ensemble Studios devs admitted that it wasn’t a popular decision within the studio either. So when “Retold” was announced, I even wondered if they would do something different.
