Do you think we will ever get a Japanese campaign depicting that entire period? I think it would be a pretty good addition to the game. Imagine plus with regional skins! I wouldn’t mind to get a Three Kingdoms campaign either
unlikely as there is already a historical battle (kyoto 1582) that’s part of it
romance of the three kingdoms is too early for aoe2
campaigns for chinese and japanese would be popular though
there’s already an historical battle of charles martel versus the berbers and that didn’t stop the berbers from having a campaign. Maybe it could happen for the japanese. And since Alaric’s campaign goes as back as 394 AD It wouldn’t be far fetched to do Three kingdoms (220 AD)
the Three Kingdoms period is awesome! I know there is a three kingdoms custom campaign (only 1 mission) which is quite good.
As a custom campaign creator myself, I would definitely love to make an Aoe2 campaign on either Cao Cao or Liu Bei (Currently I have a lot more ideas for a Cao Cao campaign).
More east Asian campaigns would be great.
Warring States period is the Shang dynasty right? Thats AoE1.
Three Kingdoms is classical age also AoE1.
But i’d love to see such a campaign if one doesn’t already exist.
Maybe you can search at aok.heavengames.com at the forum, or at the download page Age of Kings Heaven - The Blacksmith :: Download Central
Another idea is watching the Three Kingdoms 2010 serie which is amazing.
I’m not saying that there shouldn’t be a japanese campaign, just maybe one that isn’t the sengoku jidai. maybe add 2 campaigns where you play both sides of the japanese invasion of korea (although there is also a scneario for that…)
that’s still a very big gap. it would be like including a napoleon campaign for the franks and teutons
Charles Martel scenario you play as franks not berbers,Berber campaign is about the conquest of iberia. Both japanese historical battles are about the sengoku period so having a full campaign about them might seem repetitive for some. Also a campaign based on that period would be just japanese fighting japanese in every campaign.
nah, kurikara is in 1183, sengoku jidai starts in 1467 or so. Kurikara is part of the Genpei war. Either way I think Genpei war might be a more interesting period to set a campaign in. Sengoku Jidai is used in so much other media (eg 2 entire total war games, sekiro) and very late in the aoe2 time period
While the Three Kingdoms period is out of time for AoE2…none of the units the Chinese have access to actually fall foul of being in the wrong time-frame.
While the Warring States of Japan would be cool, it’s a LOT of mirror matches, and would suffer from Pachacuti syndrome. The Mongol invasions of Japan would be a better background to set a Japanese campaign to.
Its either mongol invasion of japan or japanese invasion of korea.I would personally like the korean invasion as we can play from both perspectives of the same conflict.
Could be done in RoR.
But RoR needs some more love first.
It’s kinda stuck in the last century.
yeah, but aoe1 is kind of too early. until the RoR expansion was added it was mostly about stone age to iron age civs. rome is really late in that time line
Yamato campaign was basically within the AoE2 timeframe.
I guess we need AoE1.5
Bronze Age to Feudal Age.
I think OP is talking about the Japanese Warring States or Sengoku period and not the Chinese Warring States. Chinese Warring States of course fall outside of AoE 2’s time period, but Japanese Sengoku period was in the 16th century AD, which roughly corresponds to the end of AoE 2.
Three Kingdoms fall outside of AoE 2’s time period.
Tang Taizong and Yue Fei are better candidates for Chinese campaigns in AoE 2.
I’m certain they meant the Japanese warring states period, which goes from 1467 until around 1600.
As I said, the Sengoku period lasted a long while. They could easily use other moments of the war. The bigger problem would be the lack of variety in enemy civs.
Asd for Three Kingdoms, I think it would fit AoE1 better. Just needs more civs. xD
We already have it on costume-made Campaigns, is pretty good😁
would have been an interesting setting for aoe4 instead of rehashing aoe2
considering how important gunpowder was in that conflict I think aoe3 would make a lot of sense. there is a japanese campaign in aoe3, but i don’t recall the setting/plot
It’s about the end of the Sengoku period but the events depicted are all out of order
I wanted it to go from Dark Ages to early Modern Age, like a mix of AoE2 and AoE3
