We really need campaign packs

It did in fact as you felt insulted by people liking replies that don’t agree with your opinion. Nothing wrong here, as it can happen.

I only quoted you’re reply where you replied “I think so.” in response to my “I’m not biased”.

Then don’t make such claims if you don’t want to back them up with facts.

Instead of campaign packs for paid DLC, why not add the occasional new campaign via a patch/update? It’s what they did during The Forgotten era, and it looks like it’s what they’re going to do through RoR.

I actually agree, obviously only for the civs already in game.

I thought they’d already said that they’re doing Glory of Greece and Voices of Babylon, not Yamato Empire of the Rising Sun? In any case, I’m not talking about an official port – I’m talking about if I did it myself, probably into AoE2 rather than RoR, I’m not sure what the best way to approach it would be.

I’m not sure what you mean by this – AoE2 Japanese have great buildings! But the only Japanese units are Samurai and Ninja, both anachronistic for the Yamato campaign.

Maybe make it about the three great unifiers of Japan? That way I think you can include Koreans and Portuguese, rather than just fighting Japanese all the time.

Of course, last you can do the previous missions before the fifth century in RoR and the others in AoE 2…

Sure, it’s all a topic…

Yes, it could be, although N0bun4g4 has a better chance, since Hideyoshi has Kyoto (1582) and Noryang Point (1598) as enemy and Tokugawa the entire Japanese campaign in AoE 3…

Technically you can make the imjin wars campaign for japanese chinese and koreans much like the dracula campaign.you start as japanese invading then move to koreans defending and last chinese coming to help drive the japanese out.

Yes, it can be… although it would be kind of weird…

Good point!

On the other hand, I didn’t know about this. I thought AoE3 campaigns were fictional rather than historical.

This would be fine for a custom campaign, but if it was official people would see it as not being a proper campaign for any of those civs, the same way they view Dracula.

No, only the original campaigns are fictitious (although they have historical events such as the siege of Malta -1565- in the Blood campaign; the start of the Seven Years’ War -1756- in the Ice campaign and the Latin American wars of independence -1817- in the Steel campaign)…

George Washington in Ice campaign (1756)

Simon Bolivar in Steel campaign (1817)

In the expansions, the campaigns are already more historical (except the Chinese one, which is fictitious):

In the first expansion The WarChiefs (2006) you have the Fire campaign, which is set in the American Revolution (1775-1781) with Nathaniel Black and George Washington and then you have the Shadow campaign, which is set in the wars against the Lakotas (1866-1876) with Chayton Black and Crazy Horse against George Custer…

George Washington in Fire campaign (1775-1781)

Crazy Horse in Shadow campaign (in the legacy AoE 3) (In the Definitive Edition, Crazy Horse was replaced by Frank Warbonnet, uncle of Chayton Black.

George Custer in Shadow campaign (1876)

And then in the second expansion The Asian Dynasties (2007) you have the Japanese campaign, set in the Sekigahara campaign (1600) with Kichiro, Ieyasu Tokugawa and Torii Mototada (Tokugawa’s allied general) and after passing the Chinese campaign (which is fictitious and is based on the travels of Zheng He in 1421), you have the Indian campaign, set in the Sepoy Rebellion and the fall of the Mughal Empire (1857) with Nanib Sahir (based on Nana Sahib), Pravar Patel (his second in command) and Shah Bahadur II (the last Mughal emperor)…

Ieyasu Tokugawa in the Japanese campaign (1600)

Torii Mototada in the Japanese campaign (1600)

Nanib Sahir in the Indian campaign (1857)

Pravar Patel in the Indian campaign (1857)

The last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah II in the Indian campaign (1857)

The WarChiefs, Japanese and Indian campaigns are partially historical. The Chinese one is completely fictional.
The Japanese campaign has the events in the wrong order by the way.

Yes, I think they could correct it with a cinematic, or changing the loading screen from 1600 to 1615, then the cinematic correct it from 2 years before to simply the year 1598 and then the campaign as it is until now… the Mongol campaign of AoE 4 starts at 1223 with the battle of Kalka River and then goes back to 1213…

So it would be like this:

  1. The Siege of Osaka (1615)

After this mission you jump back in time to when Tokugawa tells Kichiro about Hideyoshi’s death in 1598 and then the real campaign would start in 1600:

  1. Uprising! (1600)
  2. Clearing the Road (1600)
  3. Last Stand at Fushimi (1600)
  4. The Battle of Sekigahara (1600)

Then in the Tutorial they could rename the British colony to Roanoke wink wink and have the explorer use the skin of Francis Drake (referring to the founding of Roanoke in 1587) and in the Test Match change the Spanish for Haudenosaunee (referring to the founding of Jamestown in 1607) (the British would have an explorer named John Rolfe and the Haudenosaunee an explorer named Pocahontas -renamed Nonahkee)

Yes, some campaigns from the early middle ages (450-750) are missing… between Attila and Tariq there is nothing (except Bukhara and Dos Pilas)…
