What about the rest of AoE 1 campaigns? Is everything abandoned?

Campaigns for civs that don’t have one would be cool to add, don’t think the Lac Viet would be getting one since I personally did not find enough information about that culture; maybe scenarios of legend could be considered for them, which are basically battles that apparently/according to people’s beliefs took place but lack historical or archaeological evidence. Assyrians, Phoenicians, Choson an Persions, on the other hand, are on another level, and full campaigns could be rolled out as future expansions).
On the subject of “Expansions for Return of Rome”, I think that idea is completely valid, since Return of Rome is almost a standalone game on its own WITHIN Age of Empires 2: DE. Don’t see any issues in the hypothetical way of creating and/or selling Return of Rome content separately, at all. Age of Empires 2 DE has its own interface, while Return of Rome also, so I don’t think DLC for RoR would have a negative impact on sales or the community as a whole, as long as the content is good enough, and memorable (AOE1 has great potential, even more than AOE2 since the latter has WAAAAAAAAAAAAY more campaigns and every kind of content than the first).

What is that, by the way?

Red Bull Wololo. It’s a massive tourney that takes place in a physical, exotic location, typically somewhere in Europe.

The Trưng sisters sound like an obvious choice to me…

Yes, for me the Lac Viet campaign would be the Trung sisters’ rebellion, similar to the Le Loi campaign in AoE 2…
