I don’t remember if there was a direct promise from the developers to transfer them all, but at least the community expected this. Let me remind you that there were 10 campaigns in different editions of AoE 1. 4 of them were transferred, although 2 of them are educational. But I really enjoyed the Greece and Babylon campaigns. The other 3 are Rome campaigns, and I think there’s already a bit too much Rome in the game. But I’d really like to play through the Yamato, Reign of the Hittites, and Enemies of Rome campaigns.
All this will no longer happen?

I agree that it would be awesome to have all of the original campaigns in Return of Rome but they have not made any commitment to do so.

I remembered. They did a survey asking which campaigns to transfer first.
The wording is “transfer first,” and not “which of them should be transferred at all.” The formulation of the sequence suggests that, if not all the content, then some series was planned. And they completely settled on what they did based on the results of that survey.

I second this with passion. I want not some, but ALL six missing campaigns ported to Return of Rome. There’s not one single campaign I would discard from Age of Empires, no matter the difficulty, redundancy or simplicity of the scenarios involved. I am a collector, and since Age of Empires 1 and 2 are my favourite games, I want to have the complete package in one single product. It can not be that hard, Microsoft, come on…

Return of Rome game mode (campaign playthroughs as well as regular pvp games) must be supported by the popular streamers, I would say, with community games.
I mean… the new aoe1 in aoe2 engine, with all of its new civs and balance updates, is not that worse than “forest nothing” and all these, is it?
Also, we already had a few tournaments with great competitors, like Daut and Tatoh from the aoe2 scene.

We’re not even sure RoR will keep getting support at all, though I hope so. And I would be more excited for new or heavily reworked content than the old one, especially if they rework cd campaigns rather than their HD version.

I also want all campaigns to be added

Yeah, I just meant that Yamato, Reign of the Hittites and Enemies of Rome are more original. They would be priority for me. And then Rome and Rome and Rome - let it also be, but… you know… you got my point.

Well definitely yes!
Even better, it will be present in Red Bull El Reinado Championship!
The weird thing is that all will be present. except AOE 3 DE.
Even AOM Retold, a game that is not even released yet is there.
AOE 3DE is not there, but for we fans of that game being ignored is not new
So yes AOE 1 will keep on support through ROR!!

Yes, for me the reason Return of Rome is in RBW is because they want to continue supporting it in the future and that means that they will eventually add another DLC to the Return of Rome tab adding new campaigns (Shang, Choson and Lac Viet do not have campaigns yet; neither do Assyrians, Phoenicians and Persians) and then add the Rise of Rome campaigns plus Yamato and Hatti, historical battles or large scenarios “à la VaV” and even a campaign for the Romans from AoE 2
PS: I’m still upset that they’re not adding AoE 3 DE to RBW (if they don’t add it next year, which is the 20th anniversary of the original game, I’ll definitely resign myself to seeing it in RBW)…

Obviously it would be nice to have them all but I can see why they wouldn’t have them all added because then there would be less reason to buy and play AoE I DE when all the campaigns are in AoE II DE from RoR DLC

Yeah but I think that all the ppl who wanted to buy AoE 1 did it long ago. I don’t believe they can have much of those sells.
Currenly there is only 2 reason to play AoE1 DE instead RoR: Its more old school and it has better graphics (units, buildings and especially water). When we are talking about gameplay then RoR is better, units move so much smoother.

Im still an advocate for Rome Returns
Exactly
ROR is what AOE 1 DE was supposed to be in the first place
So would no need to develop more and definitely the devs should save money and time
I was looking for AOE 2 Quality of Life improvements when the game came out!
But sadly is the same old game we had decades ago, only visual and sound updates and no more

Btw it is rly weird how they made AoE 1 DE look better than AoE 2 DE but at the same time 1 is so much worse in terms of control to the point of unplayable. Why didn’t they initially make DE for both games with both advantages…
Maybe they just wanted to show what they (devs) could really do. For example AoE1 DE Trimere is totally fully animated in AoE1DE when it’s moving and when it’s just stationary in water, but other ships are not fully animated, which makes me think someone told the devs: No we can’t waste more time creating other ships fully animated.

Because AOE DE is only about visual and sound upgrades.
In essence, Is the same game that we had more than 20 years ago
The same and odd pathfinding, unit stack, AI control and movement, the same problems
This I know. But this is obviously a disaster choice and I don’t get how they could make it.
