What features do you think Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition should have to increase the number of people playing this game more?

The ability to place soldiers on top of walls, castles and warships. Soldiers can be seen fighting on top of walls, castles and warships.

There must be strategic points in the game, such as mountains, hills and forests. Soldiers should have additional bonuses against the enemy when fighting at strategic points such as mountains, hills and forests.

Soldiers must have the ability to capture enemy units. Captured units can be traded with the enemy, sold to an allied unit, or killed.

Outlaws should be given the ability to kidnap villagers. Kidnapped villagers can be sold for ransom or killed.

Players should be able to set their own card limit on the Home City deck. Players should be able to set the population limit themselves. In short, the population capacity should be unlimited, not 200. The card capacity of Home City deck should be unlimited, not 25.

In the game, players should be able to adjust the night and day settings of the map they will fight. Soldiers should be able to fight at night. It should be natural events such as rain, snow and thunder. There should be natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, hurricanes. All units must be affected by natural disasters.

When heavy cavalry or hand cavalry are fighting against infantry in trample mode, all infantry must be knocked down by the horse’s impact.

The best idea on here is the day/night and weather. It’ll add a bunch of variety to already existing maps.

Otherwise it’s important to note that according to the steamdb page more people play this game now than even just a couple months after release.

to increase the number of players?
we need more information in the game, the game is extremely frustrating, please stop: hidden negative bonuses, crashes on no rush 40, no campaign, so easy campaigns destroy the game

So show all the info on the iu (as there is no space we can click on the photo and then a bigger box open to see all the info about hidden bonuses of the units, time of creation etc, rate of cattle fattening)

A toxic comunity on forum that dont make the game progress, what the game needs is often attacked by players that say is not needed, forum should be atacched to steam or display how many hours have spent on the game, so suggestion should be taken based on how many hours a player has spent on the game, there is so much new players that comment but dont even have played the game in years.

Honest truth, get it popular on social media - TikTok, Instagram or Snapchat.

To make a game popular nowadays you need to attract the attention of a generation that has an attention span of 20 seconds. The community needs to start creating content on a Reel like platforms that produces memes and advice content to really engage a new audience. For example look at games like Minecraft, Clash of Clans, and Among Us that have massive communities that make content that might seems silly but really starts engaging people who then become curious about what the game is about so decide to try it.

A lot of ideas you’ve presented are good but they will be obsolete if nobody knows about them.

99% of people grab these games to play solo, or maybe coop at best.

If you want to attract more players you should introduce more (and replayable) single-player content.
Once that support cycle is going strong, you can use that money to sustain and improve competitive modes.

They introduced historical battles in expansions and they are nice, but can’t be the main dish. There’s challenge mode, but it’s pretty much abandoned. Maybe alongside campaigns, it could be transformed into horde mode, where you build up your settlement, defend from waves of attackers (in different scenarios, sometimes it’s Brit army, sometimes natives etc) and explore the map and complete side objectives.
Tycoon mode is cool, but just like historical battles (that are ultimately also in very limited number) it can’t really be a main drive.

Ultimately nobody knows what’s the plan. Maybe support for 3DE was designed to end much sooner, bu# it was successful enough that they managed to prolong the support?
At the end of the day it’s not a live service game, just a re-release and there’s already a new installment in the series, and you can drag the support only so much.

Since you are speaking in the past, the feature that would have retained a lot more players is to have a mostly bug-free release. This was the “original sin” of AoE3 DE and lost us half the player base of even AoE2 people that were curious at first and continued hating afterwards (I personally know a couple of friends even in this camp).

Also more marketing, no downgrades (like in voice-actors) and equitable reworks (Asians for example got completely forgotten in the mercenary re-work even when before it they were on pair with Europe and and to this day, they still don’t have access to imperical mercs and infinite mercenary cards in Age IV).

fix the random crashes and more singleplayer content maybe a world conquest mode similar as the seen in rise of nations, a world/regional map, and small battles to take territories that give bonus/resources for the next bonuses. probably is too much to ask

AOE3 had a grand campaign in the original concepts. That makes a lot more sense with the card progression system, which would not be fun if you are grinding random skirmishes but will be really fun if a campaign map or a storyline is encouraging you to do so ——one of the missed opportunities that could be great but ended up being a very hated feature.

That’s also the reason I prefer full campaigns with storylines rather than individual scenarios. It is imo the best way to utilize the card system.

Yes please - I’d love lots of historical campaigns focused on maybe individual leaders (following Napoleon from Corsica to Revolutionary France, then napoleonic campaigns all the way to Waterloo.

Napoleon didn’t do anything interesting in Corsica. The siege of Toulon would be the obvious starting point for a Napoleon campaign.

Corsica would be better covered by a campaign centered on Pasquale Paoli.

I would say the games needs more marketing. That would help as currently it gets ignored. Also ports it to Xbox then go from there. Definitely not in favor of the whole capturing enemy units and villager thing. Having the ability to up the population cap wouldn’t be a bad idea maybe to 350 or so, not sure if you would want to implement that on multiplayer but for single player skirmish it’s totally fine.

I just mean narratively, assuming we’d have a nice voice over. No gameplay in Corsica.

(Meme of Empires 3) well this should help start us off.

yea thats true, but even with publicity, people when find the product and its no good, they wont stay

there is allready a day night cycle offical mod for this, but it is really bad, i uninstalled it, i cannot se anything when is night, weather would be cool but as the games runs on very low fps because all the units that need to fight, weather probably would crash the game or worse the gameplay on multiplayer 4vs4 when 800 troops fight each other.

there is only one feature man, and i posted it before, receving negative comments, the only feature age of empires 3 DE need is to MONETIZE, to find a way to MONETIZE, earn money to keep improving the game.

That’s all

First of all the game can’t be too bad coz we’re all here loving it.

Second of all, have you ever played Among Us? It is an awful game - it would always keep crashing - but because of media hype it grew a very loyal player base. The game was literally a meme!

For our sake it, would be brilliant to have more updates with new features but as you mention the game needs more funding.

It’s hard to improve a game that is so close to perfection.

This is just an opinion, but I think the following changes would make the game more accessible and therefore increase the number of players.

All civilizations should have the same amount of resources, Gold, Food and Wood, no more, no less. (Problem, Asian and African Civilizations)

A general Age UP system for all civilizations and that integrates the shipping system to maintain consistency. (Problem, The European and Asian civilizations)

Metropolis shipments should all be competitive and virtually devoid of unique features. (Problem, the whole game would need to be redesigned)

Contrary to the previous point, all the cards of the age pass should encourage the unique characteristics of the civilizations (Problem, the entire game would need to be redesigned)

The civilization bonuses should all be replaced by the Spanish shipping bonus, this would encourage the use of cards. (Problem, the whole game would need to be redesigned)

Units have no differences at start, but the civilization’s signature unit shipments would give that unit extra stats. (Problem, the whole game would need to be redesigned)

Now, would all of the above be a positive change? no, if we make these changes the game would stop being AOE3 and therefore would lose what for many is the fun of the game.

Also, the aforementioned changes would require so much work that it would be much easier to create a new game.

But I imagine that you are wondering where I want to go with this comment, easy, I want us to stop worrying so much about attracting new people and focus more on having fun with this game.

Obviously we have to point out its flaws and try to change them, but there are limits to what players can ask for and what developers are willing to do.
