Right now, they just don’t need it. But I’m open for a Chinese rework in the future.
This cannot compensate for the lack of range imo. Heavy scorps without SE die to arbs, even with this bonus.
Not sure this is useful. Also very similar Celt unique tech. Changing Chinese seems to be the hardest thing to do. Currently it’s pretty middle of the road at the highest levels but it used to be very strong. Not sure how it’s seen in tournament play, not heard enough about them recently.
I think they’re forever going to be bad in the hands of mid to low ELO players.
I don’t think they need buffs, but I would just give them another UU. Something like shock light cavalry would fit them quite well. Another option is some kind of gunpowder siege.
With them lacking Siege engineers and supplies, Chinese just aren’t very interesting civ. It just feels like generic halb+ram or archer+treb civ with decent economy.
Additional hp would help the scorpions, but I’d personally prefer +1 range on scorpions after Rocketry is researched (in addition to current effect).
Another change I’d like to see is Chinese getting hand canons (which wouldn’t do much for the civ, though it would affect the Mongols campaign mission “into China”, given that one of the AIs is scripted to produce hand canons in that mission.)
