Anglo Saxons didn’t speak a lick of english. They spoke their own language that would only develop into modern english when the normans colonized them. Should just say english.
Anglo is just anything related to English because the Anglo-Saxons are the ancestors of the English. Lots of language terms have very archaic origins. Anglosphere (from Anglo-Saxons) is the Engish influenced realm, Lusosphere (from the Roman province) is for Portuguese influenced regions, Sinosphere (from the Latin name for China) refers to the region of historic Chinese influence, etc.
