Do we know how long they’ve been working? (At least since December, right?)
Maybe even before of that timemark
Since 14th October (20 characters)
If Forgotten Empires and EW announce they’re un-abandoning 3DE, I’m happy, but until there’s an actual announcement I won’t hold on to hope.
If that happens, we’ll celebrate and have a party in the game; March 5th could be great…
maybe they are not working on anything and this topic is absolutely useless… no game balance tweaks or DLC
Just need to how it carries on
made this little timeline for myself, but now i wanna share it
i added aoe1 steamdb changes as a refferencepoint; ignore every aoe3 steamdb change that coincides with aoe1. Also aoe1 has steamdb changes, when aoe3 doesnt - and probably vice versa (→ look “random noise”; during that period there was certainly no development at all).
Note: Even aoe1 has 3 changes in steamdb at one day
The last (data) Patch was released on 24.10.24, it didnt coincide with a steamdb change. Sadly i dont see data from before then, so i cant compare pre-patch paterns with what we observe now.
Now to some interpretation and wild speculation:
We saw atleast some movement between that patch and Tilanus’ stream appearance. I think Tilanus was genuine on stream and the devs really did some initial work there (+ follow-up on the patch). After the holidays they picked up their work again, but before it could fully ramp up, the DLC got cancelled.
The pace of ‘development’ (if at all visible from looking at steamdb) end of 2025 is way faster than end of 2024. We see a further increase in February 2026, from ca. 9 changes/month to 18 changes/month; this increase is hard to explain by “random noise” only.
That’s a lot of activity recently and a very nice chart.
I really don’t know about a DLC, this could simply be a larger non-data farewell patch. I suspect a data patch has certain limitations and may not be able to fix certain bugs.
Absolutely!
There was another for today, but didn’t realize until now:
Let’s see if the next one shows up in 1h 30m
What do the different colours mean? And the little red crosses?
Little red crosses are steamdb changes of aoe1 for comparison
In fact, it’s unnecessary to compare with AOE1.
The steamdb changes for AOE1 are ‘changed trailers\changed steamdeck compatibility\assets\review percentage’. All of them are obviously not substantial updates. They are changed automatically by steam itself.
The comparison with AoE 1 solely exists for the purpose of showing that they in fact work on AoE 3.
No, as stated in the original comment:
its essential to look at it and ignore every aoe1 change that coincides with aoe3 changes - since they are the same.
Aoe1 gives u a feel for the random noise an aoe title should have, if there was no development at all
Aka its important because of all the reasons u stated
why AO1 and not AOE2… so those changes may be related for aoe2 aoe1 aoe4…
Yes, that’s very strange, making so many changes only for it to end up “being nothing”…
