What should be the focus of the next dlc post tMR? (AoE2 proper)

Mayans will have a campaign for whatever American dlc comes next, it’s for sure.

The Italians are already a naval-focused civ. To be honest, I’d prefer the Lombards, at least they could be a bit more distinct.

The Oriyas/ K a l i # # # # would be part of South India, I think. The Gujaratis are part of the Gurjaras but only cover the Gujarat Sultanate from 1394 to 1573. They’re part of the Gurjaras, but don’t cover all of them and obviously we would need to split them into various other civs such as the Rajasthanis or the Malvi if we wanted to add something like the Gujaratis.

But they don’t have a unique ship boat. Venice can get its own galleass.

I’d rather see Swahili/Chimu for naval mechanics and Tibetans/Mississippians for monk mechanics than a slight Italy variant civ using the Mediterranean architecture set.

Ohh you couldn’t even mention them. Censored. 11

But Mediterranean Architecture Style is the most beautiful one.

Chimu, Tarascans and Maya campaign DLC.

Adds flavour to the Inca campaign, gives a campaign to an AOC civ and the opportunities to have non-Euro related campaigns in the Americas.

You wouldn’t even necessarily need a new set and it would give us more flavours while playing with Eagles.

Yes, and we already have 8 civs to enjoy it. (that’s almost a fifth of the civs in the game)

On the other hand, the Central Asian architecture is gorgeous and only available to two civs.

This is subjective. I don’t like it as much. I prefer the African, SEA and American one.

Agreed, this is my opinion the most likely DLC for the Americas in the future.

I personally expect at least one dlc for Mesoamerica and another one for the Andes, and it wouldn’t even be enough to cover everything either of them has to offer.

True, not to mention a DLC based on civs north of the Colorado river.

I voted for East Africa, Mesoamerica, South America, Indochina, and South China, those are the regions that I most want to see getting more representations. Although if the vote isn’t limited to 5 choices I’d also like to add West Africa, South Africa, North America, Insulindia, and maybe Oceania.

Not sure about the Chimu from what I know historically they mostly focused on heavy infantry with maceman clad in bronze armors (could be an infantry version of the Tarkans), in my opinion they should be a defensive or siege civ.

Naval mechanics are more suitable for the Swahilis or the Chams.

The Purepechas or Tarascans could have a unique upgrade to their eagle warrior. Instead of upgrading to elite eagle warrior they would upgrade to bronze eagle warrior, sacrificing some mobility for slightly higher melee damage and melee armor. Unlike their neighbor the Aztecs who mostly used obsidian weapons, the Purepechas had mastered bronze crafting techniques.

I’d like a DLC focused solely on America (whether North/Meso or South) and one for Africa that reduces the Malian and Ethiopian umbrellas (since they both represent unrelated people).

Probably the safest option for an American DLC. Throw in the Waris so every major Andean group is well covered. The dream would be a South American Architecture set with this DLC. Haters wouldn’t able to whine because these 3 civs were as advanced as Aztecs/Mayans/Incas.

Actually the Chimus had a notable navy, they even defeated the Incas with it.

I would like a campaign pack for civs that haven’t one (and maybe a new Byzantine one too)… There is enough civs, even though I would be curious about something in the middle east, central Asia, east Asia, indian ocean or the Balkans.
I might be blind but I don’t remember any new architecture set coming with DOI? Only new castles.
(I also would like a new monastery for byzantine, regional units and buildings like CA or caravanserail - seen in another thread)
