Does the rather heavy cost of Bloodlines never forget to pop up in conversation
this is an utterly pointless complication that adds absolutely nothing to the game.
units that fulfill the same role with very similar stats, generally shouldn’t have different names or skins
an optional regional skins pack would make sense. stat changes that aren’t motivated by balance make the game worse and are counter productive.
It depends on the situation.
I think seeing Franks Paladins more often isn’t a bad thing.
However I think overall it’s still a bit weaker. The thing with the current Chivalry is that it enables a hard transition because as you said it also makes the research time shorter (though this has been reduced by moving the tech to imp). But also in a situation where the Franks player has notably less military power initially he can already engage because he has the faster production. And in close battles the faster production is also superior to having the extra HP. So it is basically better in all situations when the game isn’t already decided for Franks.
However, it might be more encouraging to go for the Paladin play with the way I propose it. Because if you don’t have that production speed you need the numbers earlier and thanks to the cheaper tech in castle age and generally more HP it’s smoother for Franks to go there.
In general I read a lot of posts here that direction that the Franks Palas aren’t that state they used to have - and that is what I try to address here. I think it would be great if they would again become the strongest basic cav line in the game. And my compensation to get there without overbuffing franks is to make the civ a bit slower, taking away the timing potentials - however buffing at the same time the powerspikes at these timings so they stil maintain at least that identity.
Franks should have been returned to a similar state to what the devs originally planned in AoK.
A significantly stronger knight line and a fully upgraded scout line. NOT a generic knight, a tiny bit better Paladin, worse scouts, and worse CA.
Unfortunately, removing the other Paladins is the only way to achieve this without overbuffing the Frank Paladin. The others should instead get a “Heavy Cavalier” upgrade that has 1 less attack and 20 less HP, but is cheaper to upgrade, as I mentioned previously. And I would make the Frank bonus: “Mounted units get +15 / +25 / +35 HP in the Feudal, Castle, and Imperial Age.” (Not sure whether it should be +20/+30/+40 instead)
Hence, the Frank Paladin would finally be unique and respectable, with a +35 HP and +1 attack advantage over the others. Very similar to how it was originally supposed to be. And their light cav would be almost the same as a generic Hussar without needing to pay for the upgrade.
This is not the only way to fix it, but I think it’s the better one.
The Teutons are totally anachronistic, split em up!
None german parts of the HRE is already split do we really need every dutchy of the HRE as playable factions?
only thing silly about Teutons is their name
This dude has like a billion posts on how Germany and adjacent civs are like super important to a degree that is uncomfortable . Fair warning
No we don’t. Neither do we need a Vikings split!
Maybe we need a celtic split instead?Renamed celts to scots wont affect the game as both wallce and longshanks they are scots.
yet the devs are probably going to force it down our throats anyway.
Same goes for Saracens and the rest of the AoK/AoC civs.
NO!
No more split ideas for exceedingly minor European duchies.
I supported this idea before 3K. But after 3K, I would rather they introduce high quality Euro civs instead of poor weird 3K.
And leave the paladin alone! Its a fine unit and doesn’t need to be split into different amalgamation names because why make the animators and artists do extra unpaid labor
They dont need to do anymore work can just use the hero skins.
Scotland is a country ireland could be one civi even tho they were a collection of small kingdoms.welsh and brittany are questionable.
Not sure Dutch/Guelderian/Frisian type civ would count as a Dutch but the lowland Belgium area was known for Hulks or as they called them Holks and had the funny Godendag spear club the Flemish Militia had. Not saying I’d prioritize over Africa or Mexico but still pretty much the only non Slavic non steppe or African influenced European civ I’d still want
At least in their case the split would still result with significant and recognizable people groups, as opposed to Burgundians or Novgorodians (as much as I like Novgorod). But I hope the original Saracens remain playable and less changed than Hindustanis and Chinese, changing the names of the civ and the UU should be sufficient.
They should fix the Franks first before anything else.
units with the same function and same stats shouldn’t be split into different skins. This is poison for readability.
