What would you like to see released in 2027?

Sure, that’s what I mean…since they’re now sticking to the same region for all the DLCs in all the games, it makes it easier for us to know in advance which Civs might be coming in the next dlcs…

Due to the regional continuity of the DLCs and the new AoE 2 DLC in South America… in AoMR this year it was Chinese in March and then Japanese in September, so if now the Aztecs are coming, then the Incas should come next, right?.. (the same would apply to AoE 4, although in that case it would be Vikings and Aztecs next November)…

That doesn’t seem like a very AoM thing to do. I wouldn’t even expect them to separate continental and island Celts.

They will probably make the civ mostly based on Irish mythology because that’s where we have most material.

They could work very well as campaign characters for sure. They probably shouldn’t be trainable heroes for the Celts though but maybe their names could be used for the generic heroes like they do with Norse heroes.

While I like the arthurian mythos, it’s very much tied to christianity as much as Celtic folklore. Perhaps it has Celtic origins, but given the history, it seems like it’s actully medieval christian in origin, with celtic stuff added for flavor and to better ground it in the point in time it is supposedly set.
It is possible to remove the christian aspects and focus on the celtic aspects, and that’s what I’d love them to do, but then, would most people still recognize it?
While there are known Celtic myths that are actually, unambigously Celtic…

All pantheon options sound good. One I would really like to see is Mesopotamian mythology, for the reason alone that the oldest recognised epic of heroes, gods, and monsters originates from it. The campaign would take inspiration from the Gilgamesh epic.

I wonder if an Aboriginal Australien pantheon would be feasible. So far, the continent of Australia is hardly existent in the Age franchise - its native peoples and cultures, its flora and fauna. They could work as minor civs in AoE3 (if it still received a major content update, but alas…), but when it comes to a full-fledged civ, I can only imagine that for AoM. Anyone around here who is more familiar with Aboriginal culture and knows whether it would fit into AoM?

I don’t think so, at most we’d see Maori mythology…

YES PLEASE!
One wonder should be the The Hanging Gardens of Babylon. And i would totally love to see Bullcentaur and especially Lammasu!

Yes, in AoE Online, the Babylonians have the Hanging Gardens as wonder…

awesome! thats promising. i mean it should be a “must” but you never know.

Any ideas what the other wonders could be @MatM1996 ?

A different culture, though.
But there also seems to be very little demand for an Aboriginal Australian pantheon, anyway.

If there was something like the native settlements in AoE3 (as an optional feature for random maps), peoples like those of Australia could be incorporated with some units and other assets, as long as their (former or current) main religion doesn’t reject the existence of multiple gods. Other possible examples are the Ainu and Sámi.

I could see the Ishtar Gate being one (This is a bad pic, as its a replica and not the true size of the original, but still)

A North American pantheon that’s not Mesoamerican. Preferably the Inuit, since they’re still around today and Alaskan Inuit specifically are actively trying to use videos games to pass their tales and culture down to younger generations. And they simply have some really crazy myths and cool “monsters”.

There’s even an international Inuit council that the developers could contact as cultural advisors.

Persian Wonder: Gate of All Nations (knowly as Gate of Xerxes)

Celtic Wonder: Tree of Life

Roman Wonder: Colosseum obviously (Although the developers of Celeste did think of the Roman Pantheon as wonder at the time)

Indian Wonder: Sanchi Stupa (It appears in AoEO but it seems they removed the photo of the wonder)…

After that, the rest of the civs wonders are the same as in AoM (the Temple of Zeus, the Great Pyramid of Giza, Loki’s Dragon Ship, etc., etc., etc.)…

Yes, I know…but it is what it is…

Yes, that one’s good too…it could be a second Persian wonder for Ishtar major goddess, obviously…

Yes, that would be cool, for example AoE 3 DE modders included the Inuit in Age of the World mod…

Egyptian 4th Major God

I think it’s the next after the Norse and the Greek, then the Atlanteans.

Two options so I voted for the Celts and the Slavs

Celts

Historically in connection with other civilization Greek, Norse (Germanic people). But I don’t want to see arthurian legend because it’s too tied with the middle age, I don’t want to see units who look like late middle age western european knight with Plate armour in Age of Mythology.

Seeing historical figure like Vercingetoryx why not but I think there is many mythological hero available. Fictional figures who look like Asterix and Obelix (menhir thrower unit) as campaign hero why not.

Hindu

They have all to be a good addition but very sensitive theme because is actual religion worshiped by more than a billion of people.

Mesopotamian

The architectural set and mythology is very well documented, can be very good in Age of Mythology. Sargon can make a comeback since Return of Rome.

North american pantheon

Can be good specially with horse unit (great plain indians from popular culture)

Polynesian

A good thing is that we can take all the various people to make an umbrella civilization : from the Maori, Taiaha warrior, Mere warrior, moa rider, moa caravan, Pouakai (mythological bird inspired by the real Haast eagle), Taniwha, Patupaiarehe, Ponaturi.

From Kiribati their warriors wearing basket armor and shark teeth weapon

Moaï from Easter Island. Hawaiian like warrior.

Slavs

Can be good, just see the illustrations of the slavics gods (specially the one of Svarog) by Andreï Chichkine

Tengrism

Some people mention this mythology. Can be very good, imagine a Genghis Khan campaign but with mythological units, this will be awesome ! This is the type of campaign where you can fight all the other pantheons.

With the possibility to unpack and move buildings.
The unit are obvious : Keshik, mangudai, horse archer with horse wearing ibex horn like the Scythian archer of Chronicles.

I just wanted to dust this off and bump it up again to see if anyone’s thoughts have changed? The only major community swing I’ve seen is some people floating the idea of a Polynesian Pantheon. Could you be in favour of this, or are you happy with your original vote? If you haven’t voted, would love to hear from you.

Thanks

Fixing the bugs is better than anything else—right now, this game is just smeared with bugs.

I am suprised, and to their credit, a lot of the reported bug from months/ years ago were addressed in the BIIIG patch. However, as the same time it wasn’t consistent. They fixed some but not others, which means either they aren’t able to or they still getting to them. But yes, less bugs would be great :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
