What's the point of building SO MANY lumber yards?

I have a forest. So I’ll build a lumber yard and have ten or so villagers cutting down trees.

Is there any advantage to having more lumber yards? Is there a limit to the work that villagers can do with ONE lumber yard?

The reason I ask is when I break into the AI’s town I keeping finding an insane number of lumber yards all right next to each other.

Is there a point for this? Am I missing something basic in how lumber yards work? I thought 'One lumber yard, one forest, infinite number of villagers can cut down those trees and use that one lumber yard. Am I wrong?

All comments welcome.

It reduces the travel time for villagers who are collecting wood, and as a result is better for resources per minute. This video has the specifics: https://youtu.be/YQXj3EcOqhk?si=HC90z2zgFLc7ABuP
