Hi, so I was wondering if I should start multiplayer. I beat standard bots all the time but moderate bots are a bit too hard. What should I do?
You can give it a try if it’s too hard just keep practicing against the ai

Multiplayer is always a more fun option. There are players of all levels, you can also play unranked if you are worried about losing a lot.

Ok, Thanks for the reply. I heard somewhere that unranked could have very uneven matchups (this could be wrong) is it still worth it?
I could well imagine that, since unfortunately there are not so many active players for this game.

AoE2 DE and AoE 3 DE have a lot more multiplayer games
I will say that AoE 2 DE is pretty hard to break into on multiplayer if you are new to the game

I don’t know. So the playerbase is much higher, of course. But the unit management and clunkyness alone requires a much higher skill level than in the sequels, in my opinion.

There’s nothing stopping you from playing against AIs with other players in multiplayer or hosting dedicated new player lobbies for other low skill players. I see noob lobbies up quite often when I play.
