It’s been over a month since the PUP was released. The Mac port was launched today, but there’s still no news about the patch. The release date is still unknown. This isn’t an extremely large patch, why are we waiting so long?

I saw on X that they’re aiming to address some console issues next week, so maybe we’ll have news about patch at that moment.
Ahaha, can you imagine that I discovered the game in 1999 when I was a child…Later I learnt about Rise of the Raja as a young adult…And later on Rome return…Then Chronicles…And more recently kind of a “The Conqueror” bis with the Last Chieftain (as in “once more onto america history”).
This game is one of the rare game that still receive regular update while not beeing neither an MMO nor a Free To Play nor a sandbox.
Tournament period is kinda over, a new playerbase from Mac, and some DLC depots already register for many month. They just released an AoE4 dlc recently too, we won’t have to wait too long before something drops for us too =P
Its a popular RTS game. It has been both commercially and critically succesful. I sincerely can say to you that I enjoy the game as well as the others in the Age of Franchise, but my favorite would always be Age of Empires III, mostly due to its timeframe and themes. I prefer Piracy, Independence revolts, and Native Resistance over Crusades, Kingdoms and Invasions. Just personal taste, and nothing is wrong with it! 
A think at least 2 DLCs are on waitlist for the game. There have been a lot of Steam movement recently thanks to todays macOS release. The thing is the macOS version of the game has only macOS multiplayer. No cross-play support, which is a shame

Why do I have to wait? It’s been over a month since the PUP was released. There are so many issues that need fixing. We’ve already waited long enough. At least they should give a release date. I absolutely do not accept a patch being delayed this much.
Be patient, not demanding.
To be fair, I have never heard of a PUP (especially such a small one) taking a MONTH.

Well, when hapazard changes are done after release of PUP, they must have broken something.
I think they were too focused on getting the Mac port out and ended up putting the patch on the back burner. They really need to hire more people so development can be faster and more consistent. Hopefully the same team isn’t handling every game in the Age of empires series…

Most of them (AoE2 PUPs) take around 3 weeks before they are released. What’s one more week on that?

This franchise is probably not generating as much revenue to justify hiring more employees.
Patches usually release on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so maybe next week.
Microsoft had fired someone.
I absolutely disagree. There are reliable sources online that say the game has sold over 5 million copies in the 7 years since its release. I think that figure doesn’t include DLCs. You could use a multiplication table to estimate their revenue.

“This past year” is not the same as “since release”. Recent performance is more important to a company than historical performance. A significant portion of the total sales likely occurred in the first year after release so you would be foolish to include those numbers in your average sales per year. You could, however, use them to find a trendline to help predict future sales, but that’s more complicated than just taking the all-time total.
I suspect there will be. But how many, and how impactful they are, is anybody’s guess.
I actually spoke quite briefly. I only mentioned Age of Empires 2. But I think the same studio is involved with the entire Age of Empires series. And it’s said that all the games in the series have sold over 25 million copies. Plus, at least two DLCs are released every year. So they have a regular income. Besides, if they weren’t making money, they would have abandoned you long ago. Remember, Age of Empires 2 went without support for over 10 years. It survived thanks to community support. And Microsoft, discovering the potential, decided to support this game solely for their own benefit. So don’t worry, if they don’t make enough money one day, they’ll leave us immediately. Therefore, you don’t need to worry about them.
