It’s no secret that this patch has officially been:
- overpromised (zero QoL updates),
- underdelivered (not enough nerfs/wrong areas were targeted at times),
- and tone deaf (Russia, Malta changes didn’t address the civ’s problems, 99% of the legitimate things report in the bugs section were unaddressed)
We have every right to be cynical at this point despite trying hard not to be.
At this point I have one hope and one fear.
Given no communication for future updates (surprise, surprise), my fear is that we’re supposed to be ok with the state of things for another 4-6 months.
My hope is that we’re in for a big QoL update that simply wasn’t polished in time but will be everything and more once it comes out…in a week or two? And that we will be receiving updates semi-regularly again.
Clearly they had QoL in mind a few weeks ago, and did not deliver a single one by the deadline. The lack of PUP/information until the patch went live proved that they were hacking away at the updates during said 2-3 week period and, by extension, spent almost zero time on the game in the last 10 months prior.
In short, almost all of our fears have been proven correct, but there’s still hope that this is the beginning of a new era.
Hopefully:
- New user-friendly interface in tow
- No glaring extreme balance issues,
- Bugs addressed readily
- No complete lack of communication.
Button the game up in the next few months by having dedicated devs now that AoM is out of the way and in time for the new DLC, as opposed to waiting for the DLC to address.
So when’s the next patch? Because we sorely need one.
