I have never said 19th century things are not, or do not belong in the game. Iām saying the US doesnāt belong in the early ages that are set in the 1500-1600s. There is a progression as you age up, and the innovations of the 19th century should come in as you reach that point.
A game created by americans. You would be surprised about how many americans dont know where names as LA, San Francisco, Coloradoā¦came from. Also rude americans demanding people to speak English cause USA is english blah blahā¦
Also Wild West is famoust by western american films, so english
Since then, they should never existed in the game, and should be scraped SINCE DEās DAY 1.
But I NEVER saw people ask that at least in this forums.
Why donāt you give example for the units to REPLACE them and represent 17th Centuryās Spanish Wild West?
Like what should they look like and carry what weapon.
Also Iām not sure. I was expecting France and Netherlands to be in at least top10, All around very strong, solid, well-defined civs.
Iād guess people have been playing them since, well, 2005 and got their fill ten times over. Iām always happy to play them, something comforting about OG civs.
In fact Iād say France is for me the flagship civ carrying the spirit of the game, slightly more than even Brits. Could carry its own, Napoleonic-themed AoE game.
I really love Mexico, it has so many ways to play and i keep finding new ways to play differently. And i love to play Yucatan and revolt to Mayans because a long time ago i fell in love with Yucatan peninsula and i love its history. The Mexico gameplay has so many different forms with the unique age ups and the revolts. There is a lot possible and itās always fun to try out something new. Itās never boring and you can always pace even quicker.
I really like Italians for their unique bonusses and interesting ways of playing those. Or going for traditional army and some mercenaries, or make a papal army or focus on a defense with a casino economy.
I love the incas for their light units who are also light on their feet. And theyāre closest to my native ancestry. Theyāre fun to counter with. And i like their cards. But in the end i do find their military lacking late game.
The Hause are awesome because theyāre so diverse and unique like India which is my fifth most favorite.
They donāt fulfil that idea very well. A French, British, Spanish and Russian Musketeer, Grenadier, Falconet etc. all look the same. It doesnāt really feel like you are playing one of those civilisations, it just feels like you are playing a generic European army.
With every new civilisation the old ones feel less unique. The TWC and TAD civilisations are relatively immune to that because they already have a nearly 100% unique set of units.
People just like new stuff more because they are used to older stuff.
Some relatively āeasyā fix would be to add some visual uniqueness.
Give all Royal Guard units a unique skin. This wouldnāt affect gameplay but it would make Royal Guards feel more meaningful.
Imagine French Skirmishers actually looking like Voltigeurs.
Guard Musketeers already kinda look like Redcoats but I think they could also be made to look different for the British.
The Ottomans could benefit the most from that.
Replace all artillery crews with the new Great Bombard crew.
Give their Royal Guard Hussars and Grenadiers a more Oriental and not Occidental look.
It would generally be cool to just give all vanilla civilisations one new unique unit. That would make their armies look and feel more unique.
Like the British getting the Ranger now.
Of course, just as the United States of the first two ages would be the United States of the Revolution, the third age would be that of the Mexican-American War and that of the last two ages that of the American Civil Warā¦
