Ok, this time I have far fewer options than usual, to the point I considered doing a common poll for Africa and the Americas for quite some time. In the end, I changed my mind (which means we still have the American poll left). I decided to include exemples of states when relevant even though I had abandoned this system in my last polls, as people were sometimes confused by what some of them stood for.
For clarification, I’ve decided to put the Yemeni in this poll because the Himyarite Kingdom apparently hold trading port along the East African Coast at some point, in Somalia and as far as modern day Tanzania.

As usual, I may have missed interesting options (I would actually any suggestion would be welcome, as I always like to learn more about history in general and African history in particular) and I don’t support the addition of all those civs to the game. I actually don’t expect anything from outside of the Mediterranean and Red seas to be huge contenders.

I take this opportunity to point out that my other poll about new East Asian civs in RoR has received an unusually low number of votes and no comments, and I don’t know wether it’s because people are not interested in it, didn’t find the options they wanted or simply missed it because I posted it late at night and it was buried behind other topics by the time people woke up the next day. I linked it here just in case it’s the last reason.

I voted for Nubians and Numidians. They could use the Egyptian architecture.

I expect those two to be in this poll’s top 3, together with the Abyssinians. The main question is more in what order they will be sorted out.
Nubians should definitely use the Egyptian architecture set (it’s probably the civ for which it makes the most sense), but I wonder if Nubians shouldn’t share a new set with the Carthaginians instead.

Isn’t the Ghana Empire way too late?

It started in the 4th century, so I guess some people would say outside of AoE1’s timeframe but not everyone agrees on that. I personally keep using 476 as the end of AoE1 and 284 as the start of AoE2 when designing polls, just in case people may want what’s in between in either game.

EDIT: By the way, AoE1’s latest campaign scenario takes place in 740, but I don’t think it makes much sense.

They went there and founded Cyrene.

I wish they add as many as they can, untill each stay balanced and unique in style …i want to play many campaing and wish they can separate from other not only in the way is it now, but also for expansion, so its easy to play new campaing or older one if i want/like.

They founded Cinyps in Libya.

Was that really a Spartan colony?

Apparently the founders of Cyrene came from the island of Thera. I didn’t know about Cinyps (including its existence), but I don’t think it would be enough to justify the Spartans being put in an African themed dlc.

Is it just me or is the interest for RoR completely gone in the forum?

Whoops, apparently not. I must have been misremembering what I read in Herodotus. For some reason its founder is sometimes called Battus the Lacedaemonian, despite being from Thera – that’s probably why I thought he was Spartan.

No, especially since Spartans are represented very well by Greeks already.

Definitely not just you. My guess is there’ll be more interest again once the remakes of the old campaigns are released.

Yeah, I think most of those interested in campaigns already finished them, the ai on random map is too hard with high pops and the game isn’t balanced enough for the ranked multi crowd.
