From what I see, I think jurchens, khitans and tibetans are confirmed. ofc imo.
About the other two, I have no idea.
That would require making the unit vulnerable to be killed, which is just way too sad. Pity the poor pandas, Peak.
I hope pastures would be delivered for Mongols took, as it is already on AoE IV
These suggestions are for Chronicles section?
I want a panda cheat unit that shoots lasers out of it eyes.
No. For Aoe II.
20 characters.
Then why not Afghans?
Oh, yeah. I forgot we need to visit India more. Pashtuns (Afghans) and Kannadigas are must imo.
Currently covered by the Hindustani
I meant instead of Sogdians who are significant mostly outside of timeline. Unless it’s meant to be Chronicles
The Afghans were also far more relevant outside the timeline of aoe2. In the Middle Ages they only controlled the Delhi sultanate a couple of times, so they were not even based on Afghanistan proper.
The Andalusi as well
I think they are only going for China in this DLC, although it would be cool if they would make a non geographic-related DLC with a bit of everything. Like the Conquerors or the Forgotten Empires.
I think this will be a China-themed DLC. So the civs would only be associated with China somehow.
Assuming they do not mean that the Chinese become a new civ, I hope the new civs will be:
Tanguts
Jurchen
Khitans
Tibetans
Nanzhao/Thai → I suspect this because of the Elephant Archer change.
That will nicely wrap up my Asian civ wishlist.
If it’s possible, I hope the 6 pan-China civilizations can have such specialties:
Tanguts: as representive of northwest China, they should have strong knights, horse archiers, camels, because in history northwest China is easier to get nice horses from mid-asia, they have the best horses in China. And as Turanid people, they can have some Turkish style cultures.
Jurchens: as representive of northeast China, Jurchens have close relationship with Korean, their traditional advantaged armies were archiers, but in Song Dynasty, their heavy cavalries and gunpowder armies became famous too. No matter in Mongo empire, Ming empire or Qing empire, there were offsprings of Jurchen people serving in the heavy cavalries and gunpowder armies. Jurchens invaded Japan successfully through their navies in history, so their navies shouldn’t be too weak.
Khitans: Khitans are quite similar to Mongolians, they speak similar languages and have similar cultures. Khitans invented “one country, two systems”, because their empire contains both nomadic area and agriculture area. When Xi-Liao kingdom conquered northwest China, they even turned some islamic area back to Lamaism. They should be similar to Mongos but have stronger temple and university.
Tibetans: as one representive of southwest Chinese, just like other southwest Chinese kingdoms, they need to have some elephant units and strong construction technologies. Comparing with other southwest culture, Tibetans have close relationship with Mongolians, many Tibetan nobles are actually Mongolians, so comparing with other southwest Chinese kingdoms in history, Tibetans should have better knights.
Dali: another representive of southwest China, of course they need elephant units and strong construction technologies too. Comparing with Tibetans, other southwest Chinese are famous for their terraced fields, so they can get some bonus of farming. In history all the southwest Chinese were famous for their defence works, so they are worthy to have better defensive buildings.
Former Chinese is more like a representive of southeast Chinese. In history southeast Chinese had strong natigation technologies since new-stone age, they brought their gene and culture to many Asia and Pacific countries. Even today, most of the Chinese in southeast Asia whose root is from southeast China. I hope they can have better navies and better siege equipments. (I can’t understand that Chinese who are famous for their agriculture and engineering but don’t have 3rd level farming tech and siege engineering. And as a nation who invented gunpowder that doesn’t have cannon, in history when Japanese began to use guns, Chinese armies began to use different types of gunpowder weapons like cannons and land mines and grenades.)
I hope the original “Chinese” name of the Han Chinese civ will not change.
I know that at this point they only represent the Han Chinese, but they are one of the iconic early civs of AoE2.
It’s for the same reason why Franks, Celts and Britons still have those names despite newer civs using more recent names like the Bulgarians that may as well have been called Bulgars.
I think Uyghurs is more reasonable than Tibetans, because during the Song Dynasty, Tibet was in a state of great division, but Uyghurs created many influential regimes.
Plenty of noble animals like Elephants, Rhinos, Snow Leopards etc get killed. Pandas could be neutral animals like the wild camels or horses. But then again Pandas are vicious when they need to be as they are bears after all.
Is this the definitive list or more will be added? maybe we’ll see some more animals in game. Chickens will make milling actually viable.
I don’t expect to see Tibetans, because they are too unique to be involved in generic Chinese structure(no Fire Lancers, Rocket Cart and Hei Guang Cavalry).
They should be released with Nepal as a Himalaya civ.
The fifth one probably is Uyghurs, a represent of Tarim culture.
