I will change Tibetan to Nanzhao.
White Feather indicates Nanzhao, but nothing indicates Tibetan.
Thai could fit, as their progenitors, the Tai, are said to have come from southern China before migrating south, but as has been mentioned before, if Thai were being added there should have been updates to their representation in the Burmese campaign.
Then again, it’s possible that the devs haven’t gotten to that yet, or that they didn’t disclose every campaign update, but seems a bit odd the other alterations were referenced but not this one, if this one is actually there.
I hope you’re right and that Thai are included, i’m just admittedly kinda dubious about it.
I’d personally save the Thai for a new South East Asia DLC
Admittedly that probably would be a better fit, them and Chams, i’m just not sure if or when they would go that route.
I think Thai, Miao, Luzon, Sulu can be made in Southeast Asia DLC in future. If it’s possible.
Luzon and Sulu’s history involve Chinese and Spainish, which could be very interesting.
and the Javanese too
Maybe not soon, since I think it’s now the turn for Africa and America, but I would like to revisit South East Asia in a few DLC. Maybe with the 10th anniversary of Rise of the Rajas?
Javanese could come alongside a more Insulindian focused dlc, we could get a lot of different civs from a Malay split. For Indochina, I would definitely expect the Mon.
I have a feeling that it will be Thai + Nanzhao/Dhali. The Elephant Archer cost tweak seems suspicious.
Yeah same.
I bet on this.

I think the rattan shield infantry may be the Dali UU since its featured alongaide their wonder
And don’t forget that one of the new civs must be Southeast Asian, because of the UI shown in the screenshot with the Fire Archer.
Unfortunately, this suggests that the Thai/Siamese won’t have an elephant musketeer UU. However, I hope that there is still an elephant and gunpowder theme, as that is completely unique.
That can be Dhali/Nanzhao. Though not accurate.
Although they are different in ethics, they still lived in a unified state, Nanzhao or its successor Dhali, and shared a similar culture with each other. I think one civ could include them all.
Whilst it does seem very Chinese orientated, this sentence has me hoping…
“Added Pagan Priest as a Scenario Editor unit.”
I would love a pagan civ and am confident one of the civs will be this.
Yeah nobody is talking about an early sino Turkic, Hunnish or Mongolic civ but there is a scenario set in the 4th century so they could add something like Tiele, Xianbei, Rourans etc. since gokturks and Uyghurs have been ruled out.
East Asian Architecture is getting over crowded with too many civs. Few Southeast Asian civs can balance it out.
or central asian civis which we only have two.
So apparently we still can’t be sure about the fifth civ. Ornlu has a speculation that it will be a classic/antiquity civ.
Has the official information disclosed so far leaked information about all 5 civs? Or did only 4 leaks occur?
I think Ornlu is reading too much into some of his clues. The jian isn’t specific to the Three Kingdoms for instance, and references to the most famous era of Chinese military history in a rts aren’t really a shocker.
