Among the unit icons introduced with update 141935, I noticed some portraits that are not assigned to any unit. Probably campaign characters without a dedicated unit.
To users familiar with Romance of the Three Kingdoms: Any idea who might be represented by these icons?
Too bad there’s no in-game model for the woman. No East Asian-looking female civilian in the game yet.
A detail, don’t know if it means anything: Regarding icon IDs, there’s a notable gap between 533 (Arabian Wolf) and 596 (first of the four men depicted above). Currently, there are no other gaps. IDs from 600 are Chronicles units.
Ah, thanks, that explains why those were separated from the others. So these are the first unique icons of V&V (when not counting the Tsar Konstantin icons used for the chariot race).
I assume the first portrait represents a particulary notable female character of 3K - who could that be?
I was only asking about the five larger icons, sorry that I didn’t clarify. The heroes are already in the Scenario Editor. Anyway, you were always correct.
They are from the files. I took the five individual icons from there, the others can be found at the Fandom Wiki. They already have articles for the new heroes, and every other unit added with the latest update.
My guess is she is Xiao Qiao, wife of Zhou Yu (Wu General). Romance of Three Kingdoms is based on the story that Cao Cao (Prime Minister of Wei) wages war just because he wanted to win her. But he fails in the end when Shu and Wu unite to push him back.
If I had a nickel for every time someone started a war over a beautiful woman, I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
So, Ornlu’s video of the third Liu Bei scenario shows that the woman is Lady Cai, wife of Liu Biao.
They could have thrown in at least one woman warrior like other pop culture already did, even if that role might not be historical for (pre-)3K period. The TTK campaigns are already filled with fiction and superpowers anyway.
