Age of 4 may be unfinised game but I believe that devs will improve game. Age of 3 DE launch was a disaster but age of 3 devs support the game and game is going to be pure classic. I dont think relic give up to improve game come on guys age of empires is microsoft one of the best product.
the game should be fun, but the display is really weird to me, I played several days and I still found the units and buildings are super hard to distinguish, espeically without hotkey, this game is totally unfinished.
I thought a game concern Macro > Micro should be bit relaxed, however, every hotkeys are missing and it makes me more busy and my eyes are actually really tired when playing this game.
And the schedule they release is absolutely disappointed.
Players yelling over almost a month(not even counted the close beta one), and what they did is released a blur schedule based on seasons. Do they really know how many problems which they need to handle asap?
I can guarantee this game will be failed based on RELIC’s attitude I observed during this month.
It’s just like 2042, devs who working from home, releasing an unfinished product costing expensive price is really really bad.

It’s completely normal to have playerdrain (yes even big personalities).
Usually playernumbers only go down after release, it’s just about how quick it goes down.
AoE4 is going to saturate to around 10k players steamnumbers as far as I can see.
Not every game is a counter strike guys.
9k but still dropping to the point its not even heathy for a normal playerdrain.
AoE4s playerdrain was on the quicker side indeed, but don’t forget that not everyone is playing it through the steamservers.
I can assure that gamepassers are even lower than steam ones. You can deduct it from this post in reddit post that show a stimate of user based on matches (with redundancy applied on lobbies with same player):

Also why using your sub as a gamepasser for a game that for enjoyment and competence requires months of practice that at that point it will cheaper to get it on steam instead of playing other games that does the same until sub deal of 1 buck is over?
