Devs just tell me the variants you planing to add i can tell is it ok?
Yeah lets dont get our hopes up, they got nothing, I dont think theyll make a lot of dlcs anymore by the look of it
There’s as much reason to believe this is true as it is to believe that there will be DLC. Optimism vs pessimism.
This is a major reason why I haven’t played the game for a long time. There’s no point unlocking any cosmetics because I can’t use them. I don’t necessarily get an error, the change will sometimes work, but at some later time, it will revert back to the default. It’s too much hassle to keep changing everything when you get so many errors each time you try to change it. I think it particularly has problems with multiple accounts and linking to Xbox accounts. At one point I had two Steam accounts linked to two Xbox accounts and it caused huge problems. Even though I should only have the Age Insider monument on the Steam account linked to this Xbox account, it gave me the monument on the other Steam/Xbox account pair as well. I’ve since unlinked the Steam and Xbox accounts, but it remains completely broken for me.
I just finished Age of Mythology Retold: what a wonderful journey. 50 missions that made me feel immersed in the (beautiful) story, thanks to the beautiful graphics, sound and cinematic zoom.
I think Age of Mythology Retold is the perfect example (and the reviews with very high votes) of how a strategy game that is part of a Legacy saga has fantastically combined the needs of the majority of players, the casual ones (great graphics and effects, cinematic zoom, compelling story and the possibility of feeling part of the story thanks to the use of heroes, divine powers etc.) with the needs of a small part of players, but no less important, which is the multiplayer one.
Age of Mythology Retold has thought of everything, perhaps also in light of the ferocious criticism that affected Age of Empires 4 at launch.
This post is not meant to be a comparison with AOE4 and say “AOM is better than AOE4”, but just to offer an overview of those elements that in my opinion (and I think also in the opinion of most casual players) should be included in the next DLC.
- a better UI with more realistic icons or at least not just golden icons. I understand that AOE4 wanted to give an artistic sense to the medieval era but, in my opinion, this led to an excessive depersonalization of the game that, also for this reason, seems cold and soulless.
I would like something similar to these
As you can see, it’s not about changing the entire UI but making it more immersive.
AOMRE has both golden icons, like in AOE4, and beautiful icons similar to AOE3.
- RAYTracing: AOMRE introduced raytracing for the first time and this feature, thanks to the lighting and reflections on units and weapons, helps a lot with immersion.
Raytracing is a serious lack of AOE4 and I think a future DLC (if we get one) could be a good addition. But the question I have is whether Essence Engine supports raytracing, because I don’t seem to remember any Relic game implementing it (but I could be wrong).
- Cinematic zoom:
This is a serious lack of AOE4. I know very well that there is an official mod called “Free Camera” and I tried it. But it is simply unmanageable when playing because even the cinematic zoom should be “tuned” by the developers. In AOE3De and AOMRE the cinematic zoom is just perfect.
Some of you and, in general, those who only play multiplayer, do not realize how much a close zoom that allows you to look closely at the battles (that’s why it’s called cinematic) is one of the biggest requests of casual players.
But of course, adding a cinematic zoom as a selectable option in the game settings would first require a substantial improvement in the game’s graphics, starting from the textures of the models to the fauna and buildings.
The main question always remains the same:
Would the developers invest so much time in a DLC to improve the graphics, add a new zoom, improve the icons etc., or are they already thinking about a new AOE that could also be developed by a different team?
The numerous questions about graphics in the latest AOE survey could also concern the future of the franchise or the delay in the DLC could also have been determined by profound improvements to the graphics engine.
What is certain is that the cinematic zoom and excellent graphics manage to give a sense of immersion in the story and battles that is priceless.
It’s all fun and games until you see the animations in that game. Also, wrong sub. Also, the game is clearly not for you, but I see you’re having fun posting on the forums. You go, man! Have fun, enjoy yourself. I’m having fun with the game.
Well, after watching a video about “8 Ways to PREDICT if a Game will be GOOD or BAD”, I would say that for the moment things seem to be going better, for a few reasons:
1.- Public Update Preview (PUP) of Season 9
At least by making a PUP and asking for the opinion of the community, it seems that at least the developers have some confidence that they are selling something good. If they had not revealed the patch in time, or without a PUP, and without hearing anyone’s opinion, we could be worried.
2.- AoE3 DLC delay announcement
If the company apologizes, it is because they really “are preparing new content”, but late. Yes people, the AoE3 DLC is delayed, but it is also confirmed as it was theorized that the company has been sending the developers of the company to focus on putting the finishing touches to Age of Mythology Retold and Age of Empires Mobile.
If so, I want to assume that the same is true with AoE IV, they are also delaying the theoretical 3rd DLC due to the latest releases of the franchise.
3.- The content that comes in the PUP of Season 9 is huge
And this is the best point, the content is massive, from a change to the entire siege, to several new unique units, some already requested for a long time (Horse Archer for Ottomans). This tells us that the developers are not sleeping and at least they are worrying about keeping players.
4.- Hystoric representation from the recent PUP
Personally, I feel like this is going to be one of the patches that adds a lot of historical representation to the game:
- From Fire Arrows that burn buildings, to units based on historical similes (Khan Hunters, Ottoman Timariots Horse Archers, Mali Freeborn soldiers), and even the ability of the springald to penetrate armor or even several units with their darts, it feels pretty good. That they have improved the pattern where the units’ projectiles come out is excellent. In general, it seems that they put a lot of effort into designing all of this.
Theoretical New DLC
As a final comment, I would say that with the good profits from Sultans Ascend I don’t think they will neglect a new DLC for AoE IV in the future, or that they are already working on it.
About the release time, “No idea”: The PUP for Season 9 is going to make such extreme changes, that I don’t know if they will have any tweaks for a Season 10. So in theory, would be for the 10th or 11th season.
On the other hand, if the developers plan new civs in advance, they should consider in advance the new changes planned for Season 9:
- Cannons: New civs would have either Bombard or Culverin as Imperial Age cannon, not both.
- New Unique Units Role: New unique units based on Springalds or Cannons maybe considering their new roles (Khmer: Elephant with Ballista, or new types of Cannons)
- University and technologies: New unique University technologies that consider recent changes (Spanish: Tercio Tactics, or Aztecs: Flower Wars, How would they be implemented?)
Other than that, I look forward to new information, perhaps when this season ends.
Take care.
When Season 9 should be released?
I totally agree with you now they are probably working on other stuff. What i fear is they will try to add Ottowoman variant for Ottoman or Crazy Vodka Party variant for Rus they have the potential to do this.I mean look joanne, zhu xi and ootd. They should leak the variants to take the players opinion.Among those i hate most the joanne because its same French civ with a persons name. After that i hate zhu xi they have yuan riders which nomadic people but in game its like zhu xi invented them on his library also who is zhu xi?Is it a nation?
What could have they done add duchy of orleans if you want joanne too much and make it support unit. She can still gain exp and stuff.Add the church jeanne worked as a landmark for example.Things like that now joanne comes close to my army and deal area of damage to take half of the health of all my spears wtf man.
Same thing. I have already written 10 times to support about this issue, but I have not received a clear answer. They wrote that they know about the problem and will try to fix it. I also have not received any awards for the last few seasons, I stopped receiving any awards after lunar new year
