Why did I gather fewer resources than my opponent?

I attached the game file. I had 75 villagers including six settler wagons vs his 41 at the end, full map control, all hunts and mines, two massive villager raids, and he still gathered more resources than me and won. Why?

I got you buddy.

Saw the recording, in general, it’s because you focused your cards and resources into your army, while Hausa had economic shipments (Resource crates and upgrades) and fully used the auras + cattle mechanics.

So even if you had 75 villagers against 42, the crates and upgrades that Hausa sent means they have like 60 villagers working.
The difference in total resources wasn’t that big either way, you did kill 10 villagers in the beginning, but it all came as it did from the fights.

As for why you lost the fights, it’s because you treated the Doppelsoldners like they were Ronin; yes they have high attack and decent health, but they are not meant to chase fast archers like the Fulani archers, they are meant for cavalry.

I would have recommended that if you like to use the same fast fortress strategy and deck, you could have sent different cards.

instead of the church card and the extra population houses card, you could have sent the 3 settler wagons and saved the other shipment for the 1000 gold in age 3.

(Upgrade cards are for the long term, but you needed an immediate response)

Or if you want, you can copy my deck, it has a focus on melee and ranged cavalry, I use it to revolt to Argentina in 1v1.
Versatile enough to still make a fast fortress.
