They are, but the civ was too good back when the discount also affected farms.

yeah would be OP.
Malians already have quite a nice eco with the discount plus several really strong options.
They are actually one of my favourite civs.

Back then Malians had halbs, gbetos were a lot better, and they had free gold and free gold shaft mining.
Currently I don’t think Malian farms being discounted will negatively affect balance.

Malians are in a solid spot atm. I’m not sure what causes this, but as I remember malians performed even better previously. Maybe the last patch hasn’t done them a big favor, but I honestly can’t find a reason fot this really. Malians have a strong feudal and the current maa (+archer) meta should actually only play into their hands.
I actually would have expected them to perform even better.
And btw the gbeto has been buffed recently. It’s actually a very good unit if the opponent doesn’t have any archery to deal with it.
