Why Tunkuluchu and not Tlacatecolotl? (Humanoid Owl Monster)

1.) So, for those who don’t know, Tunkuluchu is a word that the ancient Mayan people used. It is not the Aztec language aka the Nahuatl language. Plus, it resting on Mictlantecuhtli’s body further indicates that the unit is indeed of Aztec origin. Unless there is a reason for this, which we will maybe uncover in the campaign story?

Anyway, what do you think? Innocent mistake or intentional?

2.) Tlacanexquimilli looks to have bat-like features, predominantly the head. Does this mean that Tlacatzinacantli, the Aztec bat monster / Aztec’s answer to Mayan’s Camazotz, might have been replaced, or could it still be in the game down the road through god packs?

I’m curious about both of these as well. The Tunkuluchu isn’t considered demonic by the Mayans either, but the Aztecs feared it more so. It could also be that they took the opportunity to give an analogous name that was easier to pronounce. But when we have names like Mictlantecuhtli and Huitzulopochtli we may as well commit to the bit.

I was also hoping they would have used the bat monster that Robby lava mentions in his Aztec concept video. https://youtu.be/ALGlOiGomIQ?si=koR75XpstGxJwlWg
