The DLC news imply that one shouldn’t expect new content for the game. Official content, at least.
But will there really be no more patches to round out the existing content? I wish the statement was more precise. Besides balance, I’m thinking of things like:
Adapt the Scenario Editor improvements of AoMR to AoE3DE. The former game is actually based on the latter’s engine anyway.
Add proper descriptions to the various treasure guardians and huntables that currently have minimalist or no Compendium entries.
Use animal models from AoMR for more appropriate depictions of creatures like crocodiles, wild boars, African elephants, and African rhinos.
Too bad.
I wonder whether they will ever reveal the actual reasons? Some people wrote a reason might be that WE is uncomfortable with the game’s setting (colonialism), others think one Age game had to be dropped since there would be too much work for FE otherwise. A word from the responsible people would be nice.
I doubt it. They will want it to just fade, though the AoE3 community is nice and vocal about it.
That’s fine about the setting - WE effectively fixed it with a few name changes and bigger scope. More far-flung civ DLCs would have further reinforced it but I thought from their view the setting was fine…
In October 2027, on the 30th anniversary of Age of Empires, they’ll announce Return of Modern Era, a DLC for Age of Mythology: Retold, which brings the content of AoE3DE into the AoMR client, with all the engine improvements. Not only that, there will be the promised Denmark and Poland civs as well as a third secret one, each one with a full historical campaign.
Most importantly, no one will be able to hurt the lovely Pandas anymore!
