Will we ever get a new hospitaller skin?

We’ve had the chainmail hospitaller skin for 4 years. While it works for maybe the commerce and fortress age (at a stretch) I think there should be some sort of armoured upgrade either in a unit upgrade or card upgrade that gives them more accurate plate armour. The community seems to agree as I’ve seen multiple posts asking for the same thing. Not quite sure why it hasn’t been implemented if I’m completely honest.

please devs! Something similar to the armoured pistoleer would be perfect. If they even took the armoured pistoleer skin and made the armour a different colour, maybe changed the helmet and gave the rapieresque sword to the Hospitaller it would be 10x better!

what do you guys think? Will we ever get a new skin for this unit?

I don’t understand why they don’t just look like the guy in the promo art for their DLC. He looks cool and perfectly fitting. I was entirely expecting them to look like that and honestly felt cheated when I instead got 11th century crusaders.

Oh I understand - it was the case of making a less resource-intensive set of DLC Civs. Hospitallers being Boneguards and all.

Considering the update that came out in conjunction with KotM actually had some new models for existing civs (iirc), it’s kinda a shame they couldn’t indeed give us the Maltese ‘serving suggestion’ of the 16th century plate-armoured guy, present on all the promo artwork.

Yeah, Hospitaller knights should be rocking plate armor. The Armored Pistoleer merc looks way cooler than the in-game Hospitaller we currently have.

Here is artwork of Carlo Alberto Rati Opizzoni, who was appointed to the Order of the Knights of Malta in 1592:

Here’s some art of Grand Masters that ruled during the 1700s. I noted the time frame they were Grand Masters. Check out their armor:

Marc’Antonio Zondadari (1720-1722)

Manoel Pinto da Fonseca (1741-1773)

Ferdinand von Hompesch (1797- 1799)

The Hospitallers wearing actual plate armor would make them look more similar with the sword-wielding knight shown on the KotM DLC promo art.
