Windows freezes indefinitely starting roughly 1 minute after closing the game, with fans blowing on max.
It does not seem to matter how long the game has been running.

I have verified the integrity of my game files.
My computer meets the minimum system requirements:
Intel Core i7-7700HQ, Passmark score of 6953.
8 GB DDR4 RAM.
NVIDIA Quadro M1200, Passmark score of 3304.
4 GB VRAM.

I have only played AOE III: DE 4 times, but it has happened each time.

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Open the game.
  2. Some time later (does not seem to matter how long) close the game.
  3. Wait about 1 minute.

Windows shouldn’t freeze.

A few weeks ago I had a similar problem. I fixed it by reinstalling age of empires 3. maybe that will fix your problem too.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I reinstalled the game, but it still caused Windows to freeze after I closed it.
