You had 98 Wood and a lumber camp costs 100 Wood. Your villager was carrying 2 Wood, which you dropped of at the Town Centre. After that you only had 99 Wood. Then you quit the game out of frustration?
I think the resource values in AoE2 are actually floating point numbers and are rounded. So maybe you had 97.6 Wood and the villager had 1.6 Wood giving you 99.2 overall.
