Instead waiting for a New Forgotten DLC, another V&V like DLC could include ONE random civ for an already covered region.
For example:
Tibetans, not included in The Three Kingdoms
Chimus, not included in The Last Chieftains
Songhali, not included in The African Kingdoms
To mention few
The point is, campaign DLC could have a better reception if a civ that would fit with past DLCs is included, without expect for another return to East Asia, America or Africa.
If these civs are going to be fun and elegant to play, have high replayability value, avoid stepping on other civs’ bonuses, and be backed by compelling stories, then sure.
They need to be designed as brilliantly as the Teutons, Byzantines, Turks, Portuguese, Britons or Ethiopians for me.
If most campaign missions came from free mods again nope, But if the Devs put more focus on it yes, dont even need a new civ just make it new and fresh.
CCP isn’t in denial of Tibet’s historical existence, they have issues with the modern independence movement. That’s why HOI4 (20th century) is banned in China but CK3 (medieval period) and EU4 (discovery era) are allowed.
In fact I saw comments from Chinese players arguing the opposite: lack of a Tibetan civ in the DLC about China is dangerous because it suggests Tibet is not part of China.
I would not buy another V&V (I refunded the original one). An actual campaign focussed DLC I would consider buying. Calling V&V “campaign focussed” is just spreading the devs’ lies.
I will buy any campaign DLC, even without any new civs.
Also, V&V is not a campaign DLC, its just stand alone scenarios that where very bugged, unpolished and broken. They can try doing a V&V, but at least put effort into it.
TBH fan content recycling isn’t even the worst part. There are multiple fan campaigns that have the feel of a classic AoE campaign with multiple scenarios. If the devs remastered “Dandolo”, “Tomislav” and a couple others instead of standalone scenarios, and actually committed to removing bugs, I have a feeling that the DLC would’ve had a much warmer reception.
God no. V&V was a disgrace. I’m sorry but those scenarios were boring. I played the free versions and it doesn’t seem any different from what I heard.
Because they don’t have any differences, only voices and some civs changes for some scenarios, because bugs and the rest are the same in the two versions…the only new are the 5 VaV scenarios and Xie An from TTK dlc…and of course, the VaV achievements…nothing more…
If they have Tibetans, Tanguts, Uighurs, etc included, then the glorious stories of Tang conquests, and Qing conquests can be recreated in game. This is a win for everyone @Microsoft. @forgottenempires!
I’m still waiting for the update that says “Updated Vortigern (440) Saxon recruitment so it is now possible to recruit them 12 times on hard, winning afterwards is up to your own skill level.” I stopped playing V&V when I found out it was impossible.
