Would you like a fortress human unit for Demeter?
If yes, which?
- Yes
- No
I actually like the idea of Harpies, but they feel incomplete due to their missing animation. It comes across as unfinished and doesn’t match the overall caliber of the game. If this can’t be fixed, I would rather have a human unit instead ( Amazon cavalry archer).
I still believe the best fortress unit for Demeter is the Amazons.
Harpy = better looking model than siren
Harpy = special lacks animations and feels more like a vacuum-cleaner
Harpy > Siren
Harpy: doesn’t profit from armor upgrades and hephaestus tech ![]()
Just regarding this specific scenario: Military human unit > myth unit
(same goes for chinese caravan where the caravan should be an animal and only optionally a myth unit)
Amazon > everything else
Amazon: either weapon switiching unit from melee to range OR horse archer unit.
I think the game should be about myth units but where it makes sense and fits and supports consistency.
I agree. I like the harpy and would want to retain it in some form, but she needs a human unit. But the chances of them taking this feedback on board and implementing it are almost none existent.
i feel you but… why tho? why not listen to at least parts of community feedback especially since some of us payed before and many of us just love the game and want to make it succeed? they could write down every feedback, then brianstorm what make sense and/or should be changed/overhauled and then ask the community again and then change it. for that early access (EA) and that should be the case for such content.
No non vorrei nessuna unità elite perché Demetra è stata costruita cosi .
An javelin infantry unit probably.
I think a human would end up becoming “a better/worse zeus/hdes/pos” one. Personally i like they tried to go for a ifferent route, sadly it seems clunky, imo at least.
Have seen some ideas of some sort of horse archer, or the whole amazon dynamic which is either an elite warrior of sorts (i assume akin to samurai and in expensive and heavy on pop) or an ability to work as the inmortals in EE
Like a norse throwing axemen?
Man I think that it was quite the opposite, they choose a myth unit because they refused to make an unique and distinctive human unit with a different role compared to myrmidon etc.
Just adding a myth unit was far easier so they went for that route, imo.
I have this feeling because everything in this DLC seems rushed to me: the mythical battle level, harpies and hamadryad’ special with almost zero visuals, poor audio effects, Orpheus that throws same projectals as Pharaoh etc.
What would that unit even be? So far all the concepts of “unique units” i have seen around for demeter just seem better options to what the other 3 greek gods have imo. Like you can surely do a premium peltast, a horse archer or any of the sorts but it would boild down to its simply the better version of X or Y.
Thats fair, it is also easier. Dunno why they didnt give a more MU heavy kit to demeter tbh.
no, a spear thrower. Javelin that are good vs human soldiers and maybe that can build walls etc.
I also like the harpies I hope they remain and Demeter gets a different buff, I found them very useful vs Japanese samurais and sometimes I hunt vilagers and trade carts with Icarus.
My only problem with harpies is that they are only available in the mythic age. If they were available in Heroic they would allow some really fun plays.
With throwing axemen i didnt mean it having an axe for a weapon, but rather the whole ranged hack damage dealing unit, since you mention it being infantry.
When you say vs human soldiers you mean vs infantry? Or some sort of good vs all unit?
Building walls also makes me picture it even more as a T.
nice idea but that would be too confusing cause all speer throwing infatery in the game is counter archers. i think amazon - and i think most of us agree here - would (have been?) be the best and that either horse-archer which are mostly strong versus infantry design wise. or an amazon unit which switches between melee sword or spear and crossbow or bow.
i also like harpy as a model and unit more than siren and also hope this unit will stay one way or another even over siren.
My personal preference would be move the Harpy to the temple and make it available right away, and add something to the fortress that works similar to the immortals from EE.
If it has a bow, javelins, slings, or something else entirely in ranged mode is an aesthetic choice.
If it has a sword, a spear, a club, or something else entirely in melee mode is an aesthetic choice.
If it is male or female is an aesthetic choice.
What it’s name is is an aesthetic choice.
Alternatively, something that provides healing. But I feel like that would be the less popular option. Even though it could turn an army from being useless to being OP.
i love the idea that:
Who in the freaking world has the time and the ability to properly micro Harpy’s special attack in a real game and not vs standard AI?
You need the Harpy to grab a unit (exposing it to enemy archer and fortress fire), move it to find a body of water, press W, and bring it back to your army, and you have to do this in mythic age where you have many other things to do, lol.
I’m having trouble understanding the logic behind this DLC. From what I’ve seen, it seems to be enjoyed by some casual players, but it is hated by both casual and MP players because many of its units/mechanics feel clunky and awkward.
They ended up experimenting too much without any apparent clue or coherence. On paper, Greek was the easiest civilization to replicate.
